Breaking Free

Not Quite an Update

Hey all! Long time no see! It only took a global pandemic for me to come back to this huh?

So I recently got that nostalgic pull that I get every few years which has me going back and reading everything I posted on here. Now I've always regretted abandoning this story since I had a lot of ideas that I was really excited to write. But between school, work, teenaged drama and not really understanding mental health issues outside of what I read in fan fiction, it just became harder and harder for me to write the story I wanted to. So I've decided to bullet point what would happen, just in case anyone was still curious about how it was going to end. I've also done the same with Dancing in the Rain.

So here is what I had planned for the rest of Breaking Free:

- Despite encouraging Anya to get with Josh, Skyla quickly finds herself annoyed with how much time the two spend together. Eventually she figures out that she's jealous and has been in love with Anya for years. Turns out Anya returns her feelings but always thought she never had a shot. They begin dating and when Skyla's adoptive mother finds out, she immediately kicks her out with nothing but the clothes on her back. This leads to her adoptive father divorcing her and buying a new house so that Skyla will still have a home. We love a supportive dad

- Niall and Zayn grow closer thanks to Anya's insistence that they'd get along. Niall develops feelings and confides in Mr Mysterious (who is obviously Zayn himself) who encourages him to go for it. Zayn accidentally discovers that Niall is the boy he's been texting for years and figures out that he's the crush. He begins to notice Niall more, develops feelings and they get together

- There would be several instances where Niall's mum would make comments about same sex relationships along the lines of feeling uncomfortable and not understanding it. This of course sends Niall into an internal panic because he's scared of coming out and losing her. She does catch him and Zayn which leads to a tender moment where she hugs him and apologises for what she said and promises to learn and be better because he's her son and she loves him and nothing will ever change that and omg I'm tearing up just remembering how it was all gonna go down

- With Niall having befriended Skyla, she encourages him and Izzy to join her at the popular table much to Izzy's reluctance. Danielle is thrilled and is constantly trying to get Izzy to hang out with Liam one on one to respark their friendship. Liam tries to get to the bottom of what made her change so drastically. Izzy tries her best to avoid both of them

- Rex is still bitter about being bested by Izzy and starts going after her. His attempts are unsuccessful since there's always people around until he manages to corner her in an empty classroom and assaults her. He doesn't get far when he's caught by Liam and Niall who've come looking for her. She finally reveals that she had been raped by her uncle and since he was a police officer she'd been too scared to report it. Liam refuses to leave her side for the next week and is there when she ultimately decides to report it. They slowly rekindle their friendship

- They all start going to therapy because they all goddamn need it

- I was maybe going to get Harry and Jade together, wasn't 100% sure

- There is a big, end of year concert where they all put on grand performances to show off how far they've come and what not. Anya and Skyla duet They Don't Know About Us on the piano because they're cute and cheesy like that. Izzy sings Perfect by P!nk and gets a standing ovation. She then gets a record deal from a scout that was in the audience

- It would all end with an epilogue set at Niall and Zayn's wedding several years in the future. Anya and Skyla run a popular local bakery and Izzy and Liam are expecting their second child. I didn't have a solid plan for anyone else's future. The story ends when they kiss as they said "I do"

So there you have it; the master plan for Breaking Free. There were other plot points but I've since forgotten them to time. Thanks for reading and all the support over the years, it really does mean a lot.
