Meet the Brothers

umi puts the last plate at the dining table. He looks satisfied. Breakfast for his brothers is ready, and now it's time to wake them all. umi walks to the corner of the kitchen, where an intercom has been placed. He lifts it, pushes the red button, taking a deep breath, and shouts out loud.

"WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!! IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP!!" shortly after, umi can hear rushing sounds from his brother on second floor. umi smirks in victory. His brothers must have woken up in surprised. "Be ready in 15 minutes or no breakfast for all of you," umi added.

"That's impossible!!" protest come from Tohya, the fourth brother.

"Then hurry up!" umi hangs up the intercom and wait for his brothers to come at the dining table.

As umi can guess, it's a mess, except for Yuh and rui. Both of them are looking tidy and have started to eat their breakfast. It's different situation with tomo and Tohya. Tohya is still busy tidying his uniform, while tomo is combing his hair while in the same time eating his breakfast.

"Can both of you continue with your doing after having breakfast first?" ask umi who feel enough seeing the two acts.

"No can, I'm already late," said Tohya, putting a full spoon of food to his mouth.

"I'mh alwso lafte," said tomo with mouth full of food. "It will be done in a minute," add tomo looking at his hair on the mirror. umi can only take a sigh. Yuh was smiling watching the daily morning situation, while rui is like usually being quiet. Sometimes rui smiles seeing tomo and Tohya, but in the same time he's also looking limp. He's still eating the breakfast, so umi assumes he isn't sick. From the five brothers, rui is the most calm and quiet. umi can never guess what's on his mind.

"I'm done! And I'm late!" said Tohya panic. He quickly takes away his school bag.

"Just a moment, Tohya," calls umi. Tohya quickly turned to umi. His mouth is still chewing the leftover food. umi moves to Tohya and tidy his uniforms. "Chew it well or you would get chocked," gently umi puts on a hat on Tohya's head. Tohya obeys and quickly chew the food and swallow it. "Don't forget your lunch," umi gives Tohya a brown paper back which accepted by Tohya with cheerful face.

"Remember, this is for lunch not for snacks, and don't eat tomo's lunch again," reminds umi. Tohya shows his innocent grins. umi turned to tomo, checking his uniforms. He patted tomo's shoulders. "Be careful on the way and don't goofing too much," warns umi.

"Understand, we won't," said tomo catching Tohya at the front door. umi takes a sigh, somehow he doesn't believe the two would remember his warnings. rui also comes to the front door. umi calls him, handing his lunch.

"Don't forget your lunch," rui takes it with less interest.

"Thanks," umi can feel there's something rui wants to say, but he just stands still. umi decides not to put pressure on him.

"Go on, you'll be late," said umi.

"I'm going,"

As soon as rui leaves, umi gets back to the dining table and clean the dirty plates. Yuh was enjoying his warm tea, while checking on letters that umi has taken in the morning from the mail box. umi hasn't checked the letters since he was very busy preparing breakfast for his four brothers. Sometimes he even forgets to eat because feeling exhausted taking care of the house hold.

Two years ago, the brothers have lost their parents because of car accident. As the eldest son, umi quickly in charge to look after his brothers, the easy going Yuh; the hyperactive duo, tomo and Tohya; the introvert rui that hardly to interact with his surroundings, the house also always in mess no matter umi has cleaned it over and over.
