I wake up, there's someone standing over me. They look down at me with those same brown almost black eyes and that same smile. I'm lying down, my body's paralyzed. Fear creeps through my veins as this person - I can't tell if they're male or female - steps closer to me, their eyes never leaving mine. I open my mouth to scream but no sound is produced. They then start to send a series of punches and kicks to my body, and I want to defend myself, but I can't. I try my hardest to at least lift up my arms or my legs and fight this person off, but my efforts were proven ineffective. They continue until I'm barely conscious, finally stopping. Tears roll down my cheeks as my body screams out in pain and this mysterious person scoops me up in their arms and carries me to a door. They open it and we're outside now, and they're carrying me along a deserted road. The streetlights above illuminate the road, fortunately enabling me to see where we're going. After a little while, they finally lay me down on the side of the road in the damp grass. As I struggle to remain conscious, this mysterious person's form stepping away from me and walking away is the last thing I see before reality slips from my grasp and darkness takes over.
"Hey! Are you okay? Oh my God - I'm so sorry! I didn't see you - please wake up!" A voice off in the distance says.
"Come on, please wake up!" The same voice says, a frantic worrying lining their voice.
Eventually the voice pulls me out of the darkness and into reality and I slowly open my eyes, mentally preparing myself for whatever I might open my eyes to. Through the light of the street lights, I see a man standing above me.
"Wha--"
"Oh thank God! You're awake! Are you okay, are you injured?" He asks, his light blue eyes look down at me, with worry engraved in every crevice in his eyes.
"What happened?" I ask, trying to escape the confusion hanging over me like dense smog over a busy city. My head starts to hurt and I bring my hand to my forehead, pulling it away immediately. I'm bleeding.
"You were walking across the street; I never saw you until it was too late. I'm so sorry, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. I'll do anything I can to help. Let me take you to the hospital." He says.
"No, I'm okay. I'll just go home and rest." I say, wincing as my head starts to hurt more.
"You could have a concussion or something. You need medical attention." He urges, holding out his hand. I take it and he carefully helps me to my feet.
"It's the least I can do to help you." He says.
"You really think I'm going to get in a car with you?" I ask. He looks away, obviously hurt but I don't notice. While I was unconscious, I remembered something. Then suddenly, it all comes back to me.
"I need to go." I say, turning away and running away as fast as my body will allows me down the street towards my apartment.
