It was near one in the morning when you let yourself into Alma's room and shook her awake. "We need to talk." You whispered in an urgent tone, looking around as if untrusting of your surroundings.
"Can this not wait until morning?" Alma asked, still half asleep and flipping to face her back to you.
"No!" You hissed. "Get up, please!" When she didn't respond you spoke again. "They're going to kill you, get up right now!" You whisper-yelled.
"Who's going to what?" She sat up now, glaring at you. You ushered her out of bed and brought her to the bathroom that connected to her room, flicking the light on.
"Alright. Before you hate me forever. I want to say I'm sorry, so very sorry. I didn't want this."
"Y/n, what are you talking about..." She trailed off, finally understanding what you meant when you lifted your hands to your eyes and removed your contacts. "Wight..." She whispered barley loud enough for you to hear while taking a step back. "I- I don't- I can't believe I trusted you!" She fumbled with her word before raising her voice at you.
"I didn't want to be in the experiment, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." You stared at the floor, ashamed. "I had to tell you, they're going to kill you, and the children. They sent me to Whales to find you, I was hoping that maybe I wouldn't, that you'd find out and never introduce me to your loop. But they can track me. After I got here there was no way of lying to them..."
"You were forced into the experiment?" You nodded, not wanting to speak again. "By your family?" Again, you nodded. "You didn't, and still don't, want to be a wight?"
"I never have and I never will! They're horrible, nightmarish people! I don't even know if I can call them people. They're monsters, Alma. I don't understand why it was so hard to just trust ymbrynes and stay in loops! This place is a paradise."
"I do hope you won't object to my killing them?"
"Please do." With that she nodded, going downstairs to retrieve her crossbow whit you right behind. She took an arrow and loaded it, but wasn't prepared for what happened next. "Alma... Alma, they're here!" She whipped around, holding up the crossbow, glaring at the five white eyed people who'd appeared soundlessly in the door.
"My, my, Y/n, we truly can't trust you to do much of anything, can we?" Your mother spoke. Alma, now thoroughly pissed off, shot at the woman, though the arrow stopped in midair and spun back at her. She dodged it easily and quickly got to reloading.
"Don't you hurt her, Devin!" You yelled and one of your brothers, who was probably the one who turned the arrow back at her.
"That stupid woman was gonna kill ma! Get over yourself, Y/n! Join the right side! The one your family is on!" He yelled, taking a step closer.
"You are not my family! You never have been, and never will be!" He sighed and used his peculiarity, telekinesis, to push Alma to the ground. "Stop!" You yelled again, stepping in front of the woman.
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you're practically in love with this woman, my dear." Your mother spoke once again.
"Well you don't know any better." You rolled your eyes, too concerned at the time to even think about her words. There would be time for that later. If they didn't kill you. You turned and helped Alma up, though remained in front of her. If they had the option they'd leave you alive, but they'd kill Alma regardless.
Your sister sighed, stepping forward. She'd never been much of a talker and hadn't said a word since she'd gotten there. All due to her peculiarity. You opened her mouth, revealing that she had teeth as sharp as nails and three long tongues, much like a hollowghast, only visible. They whipped around the room, one slamming you into a wall, another grabbing Alma by the waist.
You took the arrow Alma had dogged from the floor. "Can't catch me you freak of nature!" You yelled, running around, dodging the remaining two tongues as they shot at you. When one finally grabbed you and wrapped around your waist you stabbed it with the arrow, making it pull back. "Fuck you, crazy!"
It was probably because of the yelling, but you heard the footsteps of children running downstairs. "What's going on?!" Emma bust in the room, Enoch, Olive, Brownyn, Horace, Hugh, Fiona, and a floating pair of pants. She took one look at your family's eyes and screamed. "Wights!"
Olive immediately lunged forward stating fire to you telekinetic brothers face. She refused to let go until he was dead. Meanwhile Millard stripped off his pants and tripped your father. Every time he went to stand back up again, Millard tripped him again. Enoch retreated upstairs, dragging Bronwyn back up with him, to make sure that Claire and the twins didn't come down.
Emma had run away immediately but returned soon after with the largest knife she could find in the kitchen. She ran at your sister and hacked off the tongue that held up Alma. Another tongue shot over and knocked her to the ground. Olive proceeded to jump on her back, putting her hands around your sisters neck, dodging tongues as they tried to whip her away.
Emma stood back up and grabbed the knife that had fallen to the side. She then proceeded to embed it in your mothers skull. She'd been trying to sneak away. You ran over to Alma's crossbow that had fallen to the floor when your brother had pushed her. You loaded it and shot your other brother, who'd just been standing there, right through the eye.
Emma and Olive both looked up at you, glaring and slowly approaching you, Olive with her hands raised, and Emma with the knife held up in front of her. You were confused for a moment until you realized you hadn't put your contacts back in. The girls looked like they were about to run at you until Alma calmly walked over and stood in front of you. "Girls. Please do not attempt to harm Y/n." She wrapped and arm around your waist.
"She's a wight, Miss Peregrine! And I'll bet you anything she led them here!" Olive yelled.
"You will do nothing to bring any harm to her!" Alma responded, raising her voice a bit. "Now see yourselves back to bed. I will clean up and handle everything else here." The girls were a little shocked with her tone towards them for trying to defend her. Though they knew better than to continue and retreated back to their rooms as told.
