"Who's this?" Casey Murphy, the infamous pick me girl. Her highlighted brown hair was hanging in front of her green eyes and pouted lips as she looked up at Jayden and Jasper.
"This is Jasper, she's one of my friends," Jayden said, he patted Jasper's shoulder.Casey scanned the two like a robot and crossed her arms across her chest. She toyed with her golden necklace and twisted it in her hands.
"That's a lot of make-up you know. I mean I'm not complaining, you look good but like, I could never."
"I'm not even wearing that much make-up," Jasper retaliated and brushed Jayden's hand away.
"Yeah.. right, anyway Jayden, our next class is down the hall, I can walk with you if you want." she clasped her hands together as a wide smile stretched to her ears.
"Okay, I'm pretty sure we have a bit of time before the bell though." Jayden checked his watch.
"I mean, you can never be too early! But if you really wanna wait, I'll be outside if you need me!"With that, Casey fled down the halls with her fists clenched and her hair flowing behind her.
"Your girlfriend is kinda weird," Jasper told Jayden. He cackled and rested his chin on his fist.
"You got the wrong idea,we're not dating."
Jasper raised her eyebrows and turned to face Jayden.
"She obviously has a thing for you,"
"Nah, she just likes me as a friend."
"Have you always had such a punchable face?" Jasper remarked and rolled her eyes at his ignorance.***
Jayden pushed his dark brown hair behind his face and took his phone out of his pocket on the way to class. There were no teachers in hallways like those, barely any students, and things like this were easy to get away with anyways.
Jayden walked out the door and outside and the cold air hit him in the face. Kids were huddling together and grabbing onto each other's bags whilst they headed to their classes early.Jayden suddenly felt someone tug on his jacket. He jumped and almost dropped his phone.
"Jayden! Don't ignore me because I'm so small!"
Casey was chewing gum and swinging her silver locker keys around her finger. Jayden shoved his device back into his jean pocket. He forgot that Casey was waiting for him."You gave me a heart attack!" Jayden exclaimed.
"Come on, Jayden!" she dragged him by the arm.
"Okay, okay! What class do we have?" Jayden took out his folded up schedule for the day.
"History, we have to go to my locker first so I can get the homework assignment for Mr Carter!"
"We had homework?"***
Casey shuffled in her bag and carelessly took out a page full of words, pictures and sticky notes with labels scribbled onto them.
"That looks cool," Jayden tried to stir up a conversation.
"Really? Well uh, I didn't even try!" Casey giggled awkwardly. It was clear that she did in fact try, but she hated to admit it.
"Oh okay."
Casey slammed her locker door and turned the key.
"Let's go, Jayden!"
The bell rang loudly and echoed down the hallways.
