Chapter One: Hidden Shadows

Hello my good readers! I'll make my note short and concise, because I know you're dying to read my story ;).

Ahead of you is a journey of magic and wonder, pain and euphoria. The ride won't always be smooth and our characters won't always be perfect but that will make them amazing. For those who prefer cast list, I have found actors that resemble what I see Emily, Jim, and Livana as being. Additional characters will be added to the cast as I write. :)

Emily Hahn=Annalise Basso

Hunter Brager=Joel Courtney

Nora Hahn=Lena Heady (if you google her, type in "Jocelyn Fray" next to her name. Nora pretty much looks like the actress as Jocelyn :D)

Alexander Colburn (Emily's dad)=Christian Bale

Lucas Easton (Jim's Uncle)=Gerard Butler

Secrets of Magic

Emily turned to face Jim. She couldn't believe it. She just couldn't believe it. Her shoulders trembled, her icy blue eyes filled with fear.

"Di-did y-you s-s-see that?" she stammered. Her orange hair swayed as her shoulders shook. She wrapped her sweater around her even tighter, hands tucked under her arms, desperately trying to insulate heat. Jim was indifferent to her terror. His greenish-purplish gold flecked eyes showed no sign of fear or desperation, everything Emily was feeling right now.

"Jim!" she said louder. His black hair ruffled in the breeze. He made no notion that he had heard Emily.

"JIM" she yelled. He turned, surprised.

"What?" he asked.

"W-what was t-that? W-what did K-Kiera turn i-into?"

Emily hated the fact that she was shaking so badly. Rain crashed down on the sidewalk. Emily and Jim stood in front of their empty school. Everyone had raced home to escape the storm. Soon, rain would turn into a flood and lightning would com racing down from the sky.

Emily had no intention of staying out. First she didn't want to die in the storm. Second, if she came home late her mom would kill her. Brutal. Murder. The only thing that kept Emily from running was what just happened. Kiera, Emily's personal bully, had been, of course, bullying her as always. Teasing her about her lack of friends. Mocking her about not having a dad. Pulling out cutting insults about her mom being single, her dad being gone. Emily hated her dad. She really did. He had betrayed her and her mom. Her mother kicked him out before he could physically hurt Emily. Thank god he never got the chance.

Still, every one of Kiera's words hurt. Emily didn't have any friends. Her only friend was Jim. Jim was the only person who would talk to her and listen to her rant about whatever was on her mind. Seventh grade was hard. Emily really relied on Jim as a friend. Having a friend made her feel accepted, made school less of a daunting challenge.

Yet, Emily wasn't quite sure. What Jim just did...

" Emily," Jim said softly. "I'm sorry. For everything."

Emily hated herself at this moment because she broke down sobbing. This was all so confusing! She couldn't make sense of anything. Too much happened at once.
