Quick thank you to Cleopatra_Writes for helping me with my outline, no matter how many crazy ideas I came up with, weird songs I sang, or how off-topic we got.
Wow, I must be a death sentence to these people, Emily thought. Their voice held an indescribable amount of sadness and pity. Groggily, Emily started pushing Jim off herself, but her arms felt weak and her vision was still a little blurry.
"Hunter, go help her." Emily looked up, curious about the two people in the office. What were their names? Master Kelly? Master Keltan? Master Kelton and Hunter! Emily thought. Kelton sounded like Kell-ten. How was that spelled? With an e? Master Kelton cleared his throat.
"Hunter. Hunter are you listening? Hunter?" Emily turned her head to look at Hunter and Master however you wrote his name. Hunter eagerly turned his head towards the old man sitting in the wheelchair.
"You mean, I can chuck Jim out the window? That would get him off of Emily..."
Master Kelton looked horrified. "Heavens no! Nora would have my head if I killed the only friend her daughter had!"
Somehow Emily was surprised. Her mom was friendly, but never extremely outgoing. She lived a more peaceful life. Emily wouldn't have thought it possible for her mom to have this many friends.
Emily quietly asked, "You knew my mom?" Master Kelton looked up and smiled.
"Ah. You look just like her." Hunter followed Master Kelton's expression. His face lit up even more when he looked at Emily.
"Oh my gosh! Did you just PortalJump?" Hunter looked like a little kid in Willy Wonka's factory.
"Uh...did I what?" Emily asked. Her brain felt mushy and fried.
"PortalJump! You know, when you summon the Wishing with the Jump-" Master Kelton interrupted.
"Hunter, please go help your idol."
The eccentric boy didn't seem to hear. "I can't believe a newbie did that! That's so awesome! Seriously, it took me like 5 weeks to get that right! I kept losing my eyebrow! And-"
As they had talked, Emily closed her eyes and took deep breaths. Memories kept flashing in Emily's mind. Her father at the castle, raising his hand up and then bringing it down so hard...
"Also, dear," Master Kelton's voice interrupted politely. "I did know your mother. A sweet child, she was." Emily was about to ask how he knew her mom when Livana spoke.
"Hunter, if you're the one sitting on my arm, I will kill you in the worst possible ways."
Emily decided to speak up before Hunter got brutally murdered by Livana.
"Actually, Livana, I'm the one lying on your arm. Sorry if it hurts."
Livana groaned and moved herself into a sitting position, her right arm elbow on her knee, head resting in her hand.
"As long as you aren't dead, my wounds won't matter."
Hunter frowned.
"Are you saying I don't matter?"
Livana glanced at Hunter.
"Hypothetically speaking, you aren't as important as Emily."
Hunter replied, "So, non-hypothetically speaking, I am more important than Emily?"
"No, I just added hypothetically speaking to make you feel better about yourself," Livana answered.
Master Kelton sighed. "I remember the times where kids all got along.
Happiness and rain bears, as young ones would say."
Jim moaned from his position on the floor. Well, it looks like everyone's awake now, Emily thought.
"I think the phrase you're looking for is 'rainbows'", Master Kelton," Jim stated respectfully while he ran his hand through his hair. "Also, what were we saying about Hunter being useless?"
"Hey!" Hunter protested. "Livana only said 'less important than Emily' "
"Yep," Jim replied. "Useless."
Emily looked at Master Kelton. "I take it this happens a lot?"
Master Kelton smiled wistfully.
"All the time, dear. However, this time I think I can use this topic for good. Emily is more important than all of you, so why don't you show her around without killing each other?"
Livana stood up and bowed. "Of course, Master Kelton. Anything for the Council."
Jim pushed himself up into a standing position, looking at Emily.
"Alright Ems. Let's tour my school."
