Detective Kay (Or La... Any way you want to call her), was annoyed. Yes. Simply, annoyed. This case was plainly and blatantly impossible! and it took a lot for Kay to admit that.

The suspect was a nut-case, a maniac, un imbécile! But so could be said for the victim who charged the case... And Kay's partner in crime. Oh, why must my reputation lie on her?! She's nothing but a charlatan! Her thoughts would scream! And a charlatan Detective Conney was. A cat-burglar, a black-marketer, and worst of all, she was tres bien at it!

Burying her head in her hands, Kay sobbed. Ce n'était tout simplement pas juste! It just wasn't fair!

"Wallowing in pity again, eh Kayla?" Kay groaned. When would Conney ever learn to knock- Wait... Did Conney just come through the window?!

"THERE IS A DOOR YOU KNOW!" And she was almost tempted to throw her coffee mug at her, but resisted... A good Detective is always calm and composed.

"Yes, but where's the fun in that, Chérie?" Conney winked and grinned which sent shivers down Kay... Much to Conney's amusement causing her to grin wider.

Despite all odds, Conney was still loyal. She had never sold out Kay, thus why Kay had never had a reason to report her suspicion-rousing partner. Yet. But the second there was evidence against Conney, she was gonna report her and be done with her for good!

"You don't seem too happy to see me"

"Am I ever?"

"No, but the least you could do is be nicer to me" At this, Kay barked a short and crude laugh. Be nice to a charlatan who robbed people? She'd rather die!

"Have you ever done a thing that would cause me to have respect for you?! NO! Have you ever done something honest in your life before you were forced to be my partner?! NO! Have you ever done a good job in any case?! NON! Oh, maybe you are tired of hearing just 'No's. Let's put some 'Yes's. Do you always ruin a case with your shenanigans?! YES! Do you always speak the wrong thing?! YES! Do you always deter from what we must do?! OUI! DO I SAY MORE?!" Now, these really seemed to have stung Conney.

"I'm... Sorry Kay... I didn't... I didn't know I was doing the wrong thing. You never said anything"

"I didn't because I had to clean your messes! And your mess would result in my reputation"

"I genuinely am désolé Kay" Her voice was impossibly small... And that was all Kay needed to believe her... Maybe Conney really was ashamed about what she did. Or she could be lying. Remember, she was an impressively convincing charlatan, and Conney was looking at Kay's feet. Sign of lie. Fine.

"I... Believe you Conney" Kay said while giving a small yet comforting smile... Her fake smile. A smile that said Two could play this game. And I play dirty. "Would you like to start over again?"

"You really mean it?" Hesitantly she raised her head and regarded her partner. "Yes, I would love to!"

"Great!"
