Well, she didn't exactly want to go through the window into her partner's apartment... She'd left that long ago, but knew no other way concerning her spiteful partner. Conney knew Kay wasn't a bad person, just... Sad to have been stuck with her... And Conney knew it was just for Kay's anger and she deserved each of those vengeful glares.
That was the primary reason she went through the window because it was stealthy and it wouldn't give a chance for Kay to slam it on her face (She was that stealthy). The other reason was because it was fun. Just waltzing through a door was sooooo dé-dramatisé!
Conney had come to tell Kay about something interesting she found (To interest Conney it was on the scale of impossibly-hard to impossible itself) but her sudden outburst had bruised Conney's confidence so much, she forgot all about it... And thought it was better to let them stay like this instead of fighting over a hopeless case... Little did she know that that thing was imperative for the case... And could in fact solve it completely...
_____
That's it! Conney thought. I have to tell her. This could be important!
Mustering courage, Conney said, "Detective Kay, I found something on the blast site. Maybe it could be important"
"Detective Conney, could you perhaps describe this?"
"It's small, and it's covered in rhinestones... It's like a Blood Stone, but not quite...
"Please show" Saying that Kay looked at the stone, and screamed. "You weren't supposed to touch it!"
"Yeah, I know! I saw this, and used some silicon and captured everything required. All fingerprints and chemicals have been stored!"
"Silicon interferes with the process! C'est une bonne tactique pour les empreintes digitales, mais pas pour collecter les produits chimiques produits! (Translation: This is a good tactic for fingerprints, but not for collecting the chemicals produced!)" Conney got worried. Kay never went full French... Not ever since they came to the United States for the Missing Case... The victim was found... Just not breathing, and it was too late to be saved. All known facts about the victim was hazy and unclear apart from the fact that they had no specific gender.
"I'm... Sorry..."
"You should be! You know why I fret so much about this case?!" Truth to be told, Conney had actually never thought about why Kay had been so persistent to get this case... She even left a bombing case because of it, and leaving a case 'Unsolved' was not Kay. It couldn't have been a problem of spouse because she frowned upon matrimony, and neither could it have been her child... So, why did she take it?
"I... Don't know"
"Because the victim is- Was my amie! That's why I took it. I will bring whoever did this to their knees!" That's when Conney retched. Right on the floor. Right before Kay's eyes. Who had a major breakdown. And kicked Conney out. Into the lobby.
"Well, she's quite the hothead" Conney muttered to herself and somersaulted through the stairs and into her home...
