From a warrior to a leader | Commander Lexa.

Chapter thirteen

Bellamy, Belle, and I made our way to where they keep my people. Bellamy went over to the cage with Echo first. He unlocked it. I see Isabelle looking around at all of our people. I walk over to her. 

"They'll be okay" She looks up to me. "They're strong" I said looking down at her. I sigh, she's only seven. 

Suddenly everyone started making noise, excited to be getting out. "If you want all of us to die please keep making noise, but if you want to have even a slight chance of making it out alive I suggest you be quiet" I said over the noise. Everyone got quiet. Bellamy and Echo looks at me. I nod to them, and they get back to work. 

I start to help open some cages when Cage came on the PA. "My fellow citizens, this is your president speaking. I have news to share with you that will change all of our lives forever." I look over at Bellamy. "For 97 years, Mount Weather has been our home. It's kept us alive, but it has also held us captive. Most of us have made peace with what we've had to do to survive. We've done these things for one reason. So that our people could someday return to the ground. That day is today." 

"He's going public" Me and Bellamy said at the same time. 

"Before my friend, Lorelei Tsing, was murdered by the Outsiders still at large in this mountain..." I rolled my eyes thinking she deserved much worse than what she got. "... she found a cure. It was in their bone marrow." Bellamy gives Echo his keys and says he'll be back. He and Echo talk and she thanks him. Cage starts speaking again. "This has been the dream of our people since the bombs. But to reach it now, I need your help." 

"Echo, unlock the cages, what he is saying doesn't concern us." Echo nods and get back to work. If it comes down to it we would both put our people first. I get back to work. Cage keeps talking but I stop listening.

We just finished opening the last cage when we heard shots from outside. "Everyone, get ready" I  said knowing the war has started. Suddenly a guard walks in with a walkie talkie. We all get into a fighting stance. 

"Cage is making a deal with Lexa right now" The guard said. We all stayed in our spots not believing him. That was until I heard her voice in the walkie talkie. 

"This is commander Lexa, I need to speak to Rocky." She said in trig so the mountain people couldn't understand. 

I slowly walk to the guard. He puts the device on the ground and slides it to me. "Lexa?" I ask, she responds right away. 

"Rocky, is everyone okay" She asks. 

"Yeah everyone is fine" I respond. 

"They are trying to make a deal. They'll give us our people back if we leave the sky people to fend for themselves." She said. 

"Take the deal. Our people are really weak. They come first." I said without a second thought. 

"Yes ma'am" She said. I gave the walkie talkie back to the guard. Once he got the okay from Cage, he lead us out, with me in front and Belle a little bit behind. 

When we walk out we see Clarke, Lexa, and a few mountain men in front of a big army. I try not to feel bad about leaving them to fend for themselves. 

"They're surrendering?" I heard Clarke ask Lexa when I walked towards them. 

"Not quite" The guard said.

Clarke looks from me to Lexa betrayed. "What did you do?" Clarke asked Lexa.

"What you would have done." Lexa answered simply. "Saved my people." 

"Where are my people" Clarke asked? 

"I'm sorry Clarke," I respond this time. "They weren't apart of the deal." She looked at me even more betrayed. 

"You made the right choice commander, Bouda" The guard said. 

Just then Isabelle ran towards me. She knows that now is not the right time to go towards Lexa. I kneel down so I'm her height. "How does it feel to breath fresh air again?" I ask. 

"Amazing" She said smiling. I pick her up, she put her head on my shoulder. 

Lincoln walks up. "What's going on here?" He asks. 

"Your commander's made a deal." Clarke says kind of numb. 

"What about the prisoners from The Ark?" Lincoln asked.

"They'll all be killed" Clarke replied. "But you don't care about that at all" She said directed at me and Lexa

"We do Clarke" Lexa replied. "But we made this choice with our heads and not our hearts."

"The duty to protect our people-" I started  gesturing to me and Lexa. "-comes first."

"Please don't do this." Clarke turns to me. 

"I'm sorry Clarke." I replied. I looked at Belle to find her sleeping on my shoulder. 

Lincoln tries to get Lexa to change her mind, it didn't work. 

"Sound the retreat" Lexa says, soon after the door is closed. 

"You too" I say to Lincoln when I see him not moving. 

"All of our people withdraw. Those were the terms." Lexa added on. 

"They'll be slaughtered. Let me help them." He begs. 

Lexa looks towards me. 

"Take him" I say to some guards. Lincoln is family. I'd rather have him hate me, than have him dead. 

Lincoln tries to fight back, but of course the guards win and takes him by force. 

"May we meet again." I say to Clarke. I turn around and walk back with Lexa by my side. I try to get the betrayed look on my little sister's face out of my head. 

Lexa takes Isabelle from my arms. "Are you okay" She asks looking towards me still walking. 

"We just saved our people, none of them died." I said looking over to my girlfriend. "I'm great." I said and smiled.

When we got back to Polis, I took Belle from Lexa, gave her a bath, and laid her in our bed. She has her own room, but I figured that after staying in Mount Weather for so long, she'd want to wake up with us. 

I walked back into the bathroom to find Lexa finishing up our bath water. She held her hand out to me. I grabbed it. She pulled me in for a hug and held me tight. 

"I'm glad you're both safe." She said looking into my eyes. 

"Me too" I said looking up to her and giving her a peck on the lips. We both slid out of our clothes and got into the bath together. 

She was behind me. I look back at her. "I love you." I say with much emotion. She kissed me longer than she did a few seconds ago. 

"I love you too" She said when she pulled away. I turned around and relaxed back into her. She wrapped her hands around my waist. She placed small kisses on my shoulder. 

After a while of just enjoying each others company we both got out, got dressed, and went to bed with Belle in between us.

A/N : I finally finished another chapter!!! I'm sorry it took so long there has been so much happening in my life in the last few months, plus I hate the mount weather and Pike/Allie seasons. I promise when I get more motivation the chapters will come rapidly. Until then I'm sorry.
