Book Talk

When I say the word "Book's" What comes to mind? Maybe a favourite book or some of your favourite genres? Personally my favourite genres are paranormal fantasy, high school, teen urban fantasy, vampires, demons and fairy. If you haven't guessed yet my passion is reading!

It's hard to say who taught me how to read but it was mostly my mom and dad with help from my teachers. In grade 5 I really took a liking to reading. First I read the whole Geronimo Stilton series including the three Kingdom of Fantasy books. Later on my friend Soley said that I would like a book trilogy called Paranormalacy. After these three I started to read Graphic Novels like the Good Neighbours trilogy, Courtney Crim, Smile, Drama and many more! In the summer before grade 8 I had read the graphic novel of the Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, Eighth grade Bites. Which ends on a cliff hanger. So I had to go to Sherwood public Library and ordered the next four books. After I had finished this series I went onto The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. There are a couple intertwining series which include The Infernal Devices, The Bane Chronicles, The Shadowhunter Academy, The Dark Artifacts and The Last Hours.

I really enjoy reading because I can see the world through someone else eyes. It's like a portal to another world or time when cool things happened. I personally don't enjoy romantic books because they are too sappy and boring to enjoy. Sometimes books can bring me to an alternate world where fairy tales are real. Also reading tends to be something I do for fun. When I need to I can read fast and remember important details. For example you can ask me anything regarding the Mortal Instruments and I could give you an hour long essay on that one point. In non-fiction books I can learn something new that I did not know earlier, I can learn how to read between the lines and make better hypothesis of what's going to happen.

I tend to read all the time which some people find annoying or upsetting. But I find it fun and relaxing! Also I can be very enthusiastic about reading anything at any time. I will read anywhere like at home, at lunch, at recess or at the library. However, when I don't like a book it can take months to read it but, if I like the book it can take a day to read it. The affect is that I'll read all the time and sometimes I think people can get annoyed with me because when I read it is like I'm in a little bubble. What ever you say to me while I read it just passes right by me. I have no recollection of it. Also when something interesting happens I will tell everyone about it even if they don't know what I am talking about. Anyone like my friend Charlotte who is reading the Mortal Instruments series knows I can become a "Book Spoiler!" For example in city of lost souls it's the fight at the Barren which is all I'm going to say. Reading is my favourite thing to do I think, breath and live for it, it is my life long passion!
