Ash was born into a small family of Cavemen , his mother was pregnant with his sibling when a large predator broke through their cave boulder and attacked them .Ash was the only one to escape and survive, having a large 4 clawed scar on his lower abdomen's side as a reminder of his family's tragic end .
Ash meets Guy while gathering food for himself , they got along quickly and formed a brotherhood . Ash found Guy's puppet lure invention embarrassing and never participated when Guy used the puppets to distract their prey . Ash uses poisoned darts to put his prey to sleep , the poison he uses are from frog skin and he has become immune to the poisons effects after ingesting it for several years .
The two had a dispute on which pathway would be best to reach the two peaked mountain , they decided to go on their respective paths . During this time , Guy meets the croods and doesn't see Ash again as Ash wasn't there when Guy arrived . Guy continued to travel with the Croods as Ash made his way across using a different method which remarkably worked .
Ash has some tribal painting on his body just like Guy and wears black leather pants and furr boots he made from animal skin , he has his upper torso exposed like Guy with a right shoulder pauldron he made with armored animal skin , it is tied to his right arm with some leather straps cross his chest , one above the breast and one below and wrapped around his back .
