Lyra woke up the next day when her phone buzzed on the bed side table. She hoped for it to be from Lloyd but was more then disappointed to see her best friend's name.
Madeline
~ Hey there Ly,
I am sorry for not getting in touch earlier but life has been pretty hectic. Although, thinking about it, you could have gotten in touch with me yourself...which you didn't....then again you just moved half across the world and are probably still trying to settle in... So I forgive you honey...how is it? Met some hot Croatian guy yet to forget all about You know who? ~Lyra had to smile about her friends text. Maddy had always been someone that talked alot more then necessary and that mirrored in her texts as well.
Lyra
~ Hi Maddy. I am happy you have forgiven me. I am sorry though for not getting in touch, everything is still a bit overwhelming. It is really nice here and the cottage is lovely. There is this small lake right at the back and I just love sitting under this big beech tree, writing my stories. And since I know you wouldn't stop pestering me about it...no, I have not met any hot Croatian guys. I live in the middle of nowhere...no coratian guys in sight~
She pressed send, not yet willing to tell anyone about Lloyd.
Her thoughts unwillingly went back to their kiss yesterday, taking a deep breath. Not wanting to give in to these thoughts she got up abruptly. She quickly checked her hair and put on some sports clothes before she knew it she was jogging up the street towards the big mansion. She had no intension of stopping there but she wanted to see this, his place for herself.
The forest grew thicker for a while before it opened up to an rather open space. A long driveway lead up to some big iron gates. Armed security guarded the gate and they kept an eye on Lyra once they spotted her. She expected somewhat of security due to his line of work but behind the gates more guards swarmed the grounds of the mansion. She was also sure she spotted someone in the woods as well.
She new she shouldn't linger so she went on with her morning run. She kept running up the street which soon ended and turned into a small path. Lyra thought about turning around but she decided to run a little further. The woods grew thicker again and soon it became somewhat gloomy.---------------------------------------------------------
"Hey Boss, your new "girl" friend is out for a jog up our way", Conner pointed at one of the security screens. Lloyd looked up from his newspaper and on to the screen.
"Is that so?", he asked.
In deed he could see her jogging up the street. She didn't wear tight leggings but rather short shorts and a skin tight top. All in all her outfit left little to the imagination.
"She seems rather impressed by the mansion", Conner continued but Lloyd didn't really listen.
He saw her run out the screen, immediately reaching for his walkie talkie.
"Has anybody eyes on Miss Lyra?", He asked.
For a moment the line went silent but then one of his permineter guards answered.
"Yes Sir. She just followed the path into the woods. You want us to stop her?"
"No need. I think I am going for a little run myself", he said, getting out of his chair.
Conner gives a knowing wink, before Lloyd leaves the Comms-Room.---------------------------------------------------------
Lloyd knew the small trail within the woods very well, mostly because he needed to know his surroundings. He estimated where Lyra was and he wasn't that far off. He ran into her direction for about five minutes before they bumped into each other.
"Jesus Christ, Lloyd", Lyra exclaimed, pressing one hand to her heart. "You scared the living hell out of me", she added.
Lloyd chuckled under his breath.
"I am really sorry Lyra", he raised his hands, "I didn't expect you to be running around in the woods", he added, casually leaning against a tree. He looked Lyra up and down, while she tried to catch her breath.
