The night before Klaus and Bianca's last full day in America, John called from Alex's phone.
"I need you to do something for me,"
Klaus had just finished packing and was now relaxing on the bed in the hotel room. And Bianca was taking a shower, or, as she had so lovingly called it; My last salvation before damnation.
Bianca hated flying.
"Yeah, sure." Klaus replied, sitting up and hanging his feet off the side of the large hotel bed. "What is it that you need?"
There was a moment of silence on the other line, some shouting, and a door slamming.
"Sorry," John said, coming back on the line, "Alex needed some fresh air."
"Uh huh,"
"Anyway," John started again cheerfully, "Alex's birthday is coming up, and I thought it would be really cool if you did something for him,"
Klaus sighed, "John - We're leaving tomorrow night, there's no way either myself or Bia are going to have time to spend the day with him."
"I knew it was a long shot," John mumbled, his voice sounding distant through the phone. "I guess, just - come over tomorrow, we'll all go to lunch or something. Okay?"
Klaus nodded, "Okay,"
John took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
"Oh shit," John sounded distant again, "Here comes Alex -"
There was a loud scuffling sound as the phone was fought over, and Klaus had to hold the phone away from his ear. He could hear Alex shrieking about some nonsense and then the line went dead.
Klaus blinked, and looked at the phone.
"What-?"
Quickly, he tried to call back but was met with a dead line once again. Klaus tried again, but got nothing. On the third try, an exhausted Alex answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"What's going on?"
"Nothing, just a little pest control... My phone got thrown and the battery fell out,"
Klaus chuckled, and laid back down on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
"So, what are you up to?"
"Not much," Alex sighed, there was a click of a door in the background and the creak of a faucet being turned on. "My nose is bleeding,"
Klaus cringed, "Not fun,"
"No, it's not. John has a nice right hook though," Klaus remembered the night at the bar, John had knocked that man out cold, and sucked in a sharp breath.
"I know,"
"What are you up to?" Alex questioned, his voice taking on an odd tone as he held a rag up to his nose.
"Just laying here, watching the shadow's on the wall,"
"Sound's lame,"
"It is,"
"Wanna go out?"
Klaus shot upright, face flushed. "Excuse me?"
Alex was quiet for a minute, obviously realizing his mistake.
"It would just be the three of us, You, me, and Bia. We haven't gotten chance to hang out much, and, it's been six months since you guys moved here. And now you're moving back, and - My birthday's in three days,"
