I was only a little kid. Always happy; always smiling. I had a family, and Pokemon to play with when I was alone. I didn't have any friends, but that was fine. I found all the entertainment I needed in just one house. I was happy...
I lived in Viridian City, Kanto, with my father, mother, and their Pokemon. Mother had bright, blue eyes and long red hair, to her lower back I'd guess. She was always optimistic, and was always there for me. Unlike father, she stayed home most of the time. She used to be a trainer that traveled around Kanto, but she stopped when she met father and just relaxed from then on.
I would always play with Sneasel, my mother's Pokemon. Sneasel and I could just get along more than any of her other Pokemon. We'd play games, sneak around the house, and listen in on conversations...
I would hear father talking to mother.
"He'll make a perfect leader for Team Rocket." He would tell her.
"He'll be strong and powerful." He'd say with pride.
"He'll be happy." He was convinced. He believed that power and strength would make me happy.
Father would always ask me, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
I would joyfully reply in my childish voice, "Team Rocket's leader!" with a giggle. Father knew...no, he thought, that my innocent smiles and giggles would turn into sneers and evil laughter. He wanted to train me to be a great Rocket. He wanted me to rise through the ranks of being a Rocket, doing everything perfectly. Running Team Rocket perfectly. But it never happened.
I am the heir to Team Rocket.
I was only 2 years old. Father went out (probably doing some Rocket business), leaving mother to watch me. Sneasel and I were playing, and mother was reading the paper. I saw on the cover the missing reports of other children, but I was practically a baby; as if I'd actually know what 'kidnapping' and 'missing' meant. I, like any other kid, ignored it and ran around playing.
It got dark out, and it was my bedtime. Mother carried to my room, with Sneasel following behind. She put me in my crib and tucked me in.
"Good night, Silver..." She whispered and walked out. Sneasel always stayed in my room with me so he curled up on his little bed and started falling asleep as well.
I comforably positioned myself; blankets around me like a cocoon, but arms free to hug my Nidoking doll. I held my favorite rag in my right hand, the one with my name stitched on it.
...
Flap, flap...tap.
I could hear something outside, but I ignored it. I had Sneasel here to protect me, and mother was downstairs.
Tap...Tap, tap, tap.
Something was beating on my window. Sneasel's ears perked up, and stood protectively around the crib.
Tap, tap, tap! ...Crack!
The wall besides me was instantly destroyed, revealing the creature causing all of the racket. It was a large, orange bird, with wings of white and green. Its red eyes pierced right through me.
I was terrified. And what did I do? I did what any other 2 year old would do; scream and cry for their mom.
The large bird, Ho-oh, reached its head in and picked me up by the back of my shirt. I continued to scream and cry, thrashing around hoping the legendary would release me.
Mother ran in, with a Pokeball in hand. She was in shock, and threw the Pokeball to let out her Pokemon. She let out a cat Pokemon; Meowth.
"Meowth, flash!" The coin on the cat-like Pokemon's head flashed, blinding Ho-oh for a moment. Ho-oh glared, putting me down on the cold grass outside. I was frozen in fear, and couldn't make it back into the house. Sneasel tried to slash it across the face, only to be smacked down to the ground. I sniffled, crawling over to Sneasel and hugged the fainted Pokemon close. Tears flowing down my cheeks, I watched the rest of the fight in fear.
