Stella felt so overwhelmed and intoxicated by Annabelle. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. She had written off any realistic hopes of finding someone that she might want to really be with and was more than happy to have a long break from dating all together. But since their brief encounter the day they met she hasn't been able to get Annabelle out of her head. She wondered how serious Annabelle was feeling. A thousand thoughts ran through her brain and she began to panic. Was this moving too fast? Is this a good idea?
Suddenly Stella broke from Annabelle's embrace.
"You ok?" Annabelle breathed, for the second time.
"Um, yep, yes. I just. I'm not sure..."
"It's ok. We don't have to do anything... more...err else! If you don't want to. I, I just like being here with you." Annabelle placed her hand on Stella's. Stella smiled brightly, feeling a bit relieved but also a bit frustrated.
"It's not that I don't want to," she whispered, "I really want to," Stella stroked the side of Annabelle's face gently with the back of her hand, "I'm just not good at this, I don't want to ruin it."
"It's ok, you're not ruining anything. I'm worried I'll be the one to ruin it," Annabelle looked down to her shoes then suddenly looked back up at Stella and smiled coyly, "and I, well I nearly did ruin it," Annabelle blushed as she laughed a nervous little laugh.
Stella was confused, "You did?"
"I err, when I messaged you. I was thinking of asking you for a job, rather than um, this."
Stella couldn't help bursting into laughter.
"You're not mad?"
Stella laughed harder and put her hands over her face, "No, it's just, sorry it's a bit funny. This crazy woman with a three year old chats you up in a really abrupt and rude way and you think about asking her for a job."
"Well you did give me your business card!" Annabelle retorted with a grin.
"Haha I did, didn't I?"
The two women fell against each other in fits of laughter.
Stella stood up and took Annabelle by the hand, "Come on, let's watch a movie," she said and led her to the couch.
As they were snuggled up on Stella's couch together, watching a confusing science fiction movie neither of them were really following, Annabelle turned to look at Stella, "I was thinking," she said timidly, "if you still haven't worked out what to do about Sunday, I know it's a bit soon to leave me with Oscar but maybe I could come along and help, like with him and the event. Like just whatever you need so you don't have to do it all on your own and look after him. That's if you want to, like it's an idea."
Stella was taken aback, this is actually a great idea. She smiled brightly, "Oh wow, thank you, that actually sounds great. If you wanted to, that is, like if you are happy to, that would be a huge help."
Annabelle beamed back at her, "Yeah, sounds fun really haha."
"We'll see about that, haha! I don't have any jobs going though sorry, if that's still what this is about?" Stella teased.
"Shut up," Annabelle laughed.
After the movie Annabelle got up off the couch, "Well, it's late. I should probably go home."
"Um, so see you Sunday I guess? Did you want to come round here before and we can go together to set up?"
"Sure,"
"If you can be here by 11?" Stella remembered Annabelle was late this evening, "Ah, err maybe 10:30."
"No problems, um yeah so see you then?" Annabelle hesitated then started walking towards the door.
Stella jumped up suddenly and grabbed Annabelle by the hand, "Wait!" She pulled Annabelle towards her and wrapped her arms around her waist. Annabelle smiled and put her arms over Stella's shoulders and looked down into her eyes.
"Thank you for helping me out. I, I have had a really nice time tonight."
"It's not a problem. I've had a really nice time too!"
Stella looked up into Annabelle's eyes, they were so hazel in colour that they were almost yellow, with flecks of green and brown. Annabelle leant down and Stella up and their lips met. Kissing softly and as they held each other tight Stella thought about taking things further. She could feel their embrace getting more intense by the moment. Stella's whole body tingled with desire. She wanted to get Annabelle in her bed so badly. But before things got anymore intense she broke from the kiss. Despite wanting Annabelle desperately she decided it was best not to rush things. She looked up into her eyes for a moment then let go of her.
"I'll text you tomorrow."
"Ah, yeah. Ok," Annabelle replied, red in the face, "ok, bye," she opened the door and left swiftly.
