Listen to the song while reading I cried writing this

_____________________________________________________________

A great wave of sadness washed over me. I watched as she quickly exited the restaurant leaving behind a bewildered man. Tears began to fall down from her eyes as she sat behind the wheel of her car. How I badly wished I could hold her in my arms and get rid of any sadness that is being held in her heart. Her hands began to dig into her purse and I knew immediately what she was looking for. She pulled out an old tattered picture stained with the moisture from her eyes. The photograph was of her with a gorgeous smile across her face and me too enrapt in her beauty to pay attention to the to the camera. A dry smile appears on her lips as the good memories of that night flooded her mind. The smile quickly fades when they bad part begins replaying.

We left the concert venue early that night happily drunk off each other. I slung an arm around her shoulders bringing her close to my side. We were in our own little bubble unaware of the impending trouble lurking in the dark alleyway. A tall, bold man came out of the shadows and I protectively pushed her behind me. The man wanted any money and jewelry on our person. I noticed that his hand was resting on the waistband of his jeans and that's when I whispered to her to run on my mark. He told us to shut up and I yelled for her to run. The man began to draw the revolver pointing it at her fleeing body. I instantly react by trying to wrestle it away and that's when it went off. My eyes went wide as the wind got knocked out of me and I heard her release a chilling scream. Lights on the block came off as I fell down to the ground and he ran off. She rushed over rolling me over my back cupping my face in her hands. Her concern grew as my movements became languid and my eyes less animated. She pleaded for me not to leave her and seeing her like this was worse than actually dying.

I know that she feels guilt everyday. She believes that she doesn't deserve to live in my place. I would take the bullet a thousand times over if it meant keeping her safe. She is worthy of all the love and happiness in the world, but can't let another man in. She puts the car in drive and I can't help but wonder where she is going now. After a period of driving I begin recognized the familiar land. She gets out and walks around, finally settling down in the grass in front of my gravestone.

I took a seat down right next to her. "My beautiful girl," I reached out to touch her cheek.

Her shoulders relaxed as her eyes slowly shut, enjoying a sense of peace. I had a light gust of wind blow her hair back to get a better look at her face. Knowing that she could feel me made a wide smile spread on my face.

"I'm sorry I haven't been here in a while," she opened her eyes elevating her head to the sky. "I've tried to move on with my life, because I know that's what you would want. But every guy has impossible standards to live up to. You were perfect. My soulmate," she sniffed.

"And you are my everything," I instinctively murmured.

"I love you," she stated in a soft voice. "And I always will. I hope that whatever I may venture on in my life that you'll be watching over me. Because I really wouldn't want to have it any other way," she thumbed a tear away. "I just hope I make you proud."

I placed my hand over hers. "You are incapable of disappointing me. Don't worry, I will always be here with you," I pressed my lips to her temple and rested my head on her shoulder.
