So in the past 3 years since Natuto left, a lot has happened.
Team 7 was formed. Menma, Sakura, and Sasuke.
Karen was put on another team or something. Actually, on second thought, no. She's a year younger than Naruto and Menma.
Sure that makes no sense given the nine tailed fox situation, but hey. Minato splitting the chakra without dying didn't make any sense either.
The revelation of Naruto's disappearance effected a lot of people differently.
Flashback two years prior
The family was at the dinner table.
"Hey Kushina. Do you think we're missing anything?" Minato asked his wife.
She was silent for a second while she tried to think about what he asked. Then her eyes widened in realization,
"Oh my god!" she shouted.
And then she got up and ran away from the table frantically.
She rushed over to the stack of papers in the kitchen. All of them were missing person reports about Naruto Uzumaki.
She rushed past the fliers and back with a stack of pancakes.
"I can't believe I forgot half of our breakfast," she sat down and put the plate on the table. "Thanks for reminding me."
"No that's not right," Minato replied. "We're eating dinner. Not breakfast."
"Nah" Kushina replied. "I've just put the pancakes down. So now it's breakfast suddenly. Look. The sun is rising." she said pointing to the window.
Minato looked over and saw that it was in fact suddenly morning.
"Well, that is good, but it still seems like we're missing something." he replied.
"Could it be that we forgot to fix the window that we punted Naruto out of?" Kushina asked.
"Yeah," Minato nodded. "We still haven't billed him for it."
"Yeah. I'm going to go to that brat's bedroom and beat him up and shake him down for money" Kushina declared as she got up and left.
Meanwhile Menma, Karen and Minato prepared for something totally unpredictable and unavoidable beyond any measure to happen.
Then suddenly they heard Kushina scream.
Before the three could even go to check on her, she rushed back to the living room in tears with a note in her hand.
"Something totally unpredictable and unavoidable beyond any measure just happened!" she shouted. "Naruto's gone!"
"Noooooo!" Minato shouted in panic.
"And we still haven't billed him for everything his siblings broke" Kushina cried.
"And now we'll never get our money back" Minato declared.
The two cried into each other's arms while crying over the loss of their son. Oh and also they regretted abusing him too.
Granted, the abuse was pretty funny, but yeah. Kushina and Minato regretted hurting him.
"Let me see that paper" Minato cried as he reached for the paper in Kushina's hand.
He mentally prepared himself for what he was about to read.
