So after leaving the leaf village Naruto started crying while he ran through the woods.
He was definitely going to die.
Timeskip 5 months
So Naruto somehow didn't die because he just somehow acquired survival skills. He was 9 years old by the way.
Naruto discovered the secret to surviving in the woods: raw determination...and random berries that probably gave him food poisoning.
Well, with no time to waste, he might as well start training.
"Right," he declared to a nearby tree, wiping mud from his face. "No more Mr. Crybaby. Time to become the Hokage...even if the Leaf Village doesn't deserve me!"
So then over the years, or months, or days, he learned multiple different justus and abilities.
Normally, learning the Rasengan takes years of dedicated training, a healthy dose of Minato's genius, and a whole lot of patience. Naruto, however, managed it by lunchtime. One minute he was screaming in frustration, the next he was holding a swirling ball of chakra in his palm as casually as if he'd been doing it his whole life.
Yeah, he didn't even need to use shadow clones to manage it or anything.
Four years flashed by in a montage of epic training sessions. He was now thirteen and overflowing with power.
Oh and he also ended up at the Land of waves situation with the Tazuna and the bridge and stuff. Since Tazuna didn't have enough money to hire Konoha ninjas he just went with this one teenager.
And then he managed to fight Gato's thugs and Zabuza and and Haku by himself.
Zabuza, who initially saw him as a nuisance, was shocked to see him unleashing a Rasengan with the force of a battering ram. But Zabuza was a seasoned warrior.
And so after beating Zabuza and Haku they (mostly Zabuza) decided to start not being criminals.
Intrigued by Naruto's raw power (and his surprisingly sophisticated knowledge of different types of mist), Zabuza decided to take him under their wing.
So Naruto ended up getting specially trained by Zabuza and Haku. Because all of this was before he got any kind of training.
Haku, with his precise chakra control, served as his sparring partner.
Now he'll just need a sword of his own.
