The day of the All Valley tournament was upon the students. Today also happened to be Amara's first day back to school since her mothers passing. Amara felt strange. She didn't know how to feel. It was going to be her first time ever going to school without hearing her mothers voice scolding her as she walked out the doors,
'Amara if you wear that you're going to freeze.'
'Amara, did you even eat breakfast?'
'Get your ass outta bed Mars, you've gotta get going!'

Amara thought back to the memories of her mother. Tears filled her eyes as she sat at her desk putting on mascara.
"Fuck not now."
She muttered to herself, being unable to control her emotions. She shook the memories of her mother out of her head and continued focusing. She couldn't afford to get thrown off balance. She's got too much at stake.

Amara had picked out her outfit the night before.

Amara felt like shit

Amara felt like shit. She was super anxious and just overall feeling depressed. But she had to go to school. She sucked it up and picked up her bag. All she had packed was two notebooks and a few pens. She didn't know what else she'd need. Especially with it being so close to the bed of the school year.

"How're you feeling?"
Kreese asks Amara as she walks into the kitchen. He's not said anything, but he has definitely noticed that she's not been herself lately and he figured it was because she was missing her mother. Amara took a deep breath and nodded,
"I'm okay. I'm good."
She lied. Kreese could tell but he didn't want to push it. He remembered how he felt after losing so many people in Vietnam. He didn't want to talk about it to anyone. He just wanted to bottle up all of his emotions and stop being weak.
"Good. I'll give you a ride."
He smiles at her.
"Thank you."
Amara thanks him and she goes towards the door to leave the apartment,
"Did you have breakfast?"
Kreese asked her
"Um, no. I don't usually eat in the mornings."
Amara lied. She really just didn't feel like eating.
"Okay."

Kreese dropped off Amara at the front doors of the school,
"Thanks for the ride."
She said and waved
"I'll meet you here after school. Have a good day, kid."
Kreese said and drove off. Amara took a deep breath and walked into the doors of the school. She was greeted by two security guards at each entrance.
"Put your bag here. Your phone, waller, any keys."
The guard instructed her to do. What the hell was this? She wondered. She walked through and a guard used a metal detector on her.
"Good to go."
The second security guard said to her.
"Yeah, thanks."
She said, very weirded out by this whole procedure. She quickly grabbed her things and walked further into the front entrance of the school. She saw Tory nearby,
"Tory!"
She shouts causing her to stop and turn around. Amara headed in her direction
"Did you miss me?"
Tory asked with a grin.
"Ha yeah. Can you help me find my class? I've got biology?"
Amara asked
"Perfect. You can get rid of my lab partner."
Tory said causing Amara to chuckle.
"Good at least I have one friend."
She smiled. The two walked side-by-side towards their biology class. While walking through the hallways, they talked,
"So how did the rest of your night go after prom?"
Tory asks
"It was pretty good. I went home and slept like a baby."
Amara laughed, purposely not mentioning the part about having sex with one of their Sensei's. She was in no mood to begin explaining her relationship with Terry.
"Robby and I went to the Ferris Wheel and parked away from everyone."
Tory winks
"Oh my god, you two didn't. In Terry's car, really?"
Amara laughs as the two of them take their seats in the biology class. A boy approaches their table but Tory quickly tells them to scram. Tory turns to Amara,
"I didn't realize you and Sensei Silver are on a first name basis."
She grins.
"Yeah, well.."
Amara pauses causing Tory to smirk, she hits her arm,
"Shut up. It's nothing."
Amara laughs. The sound of the bell ringing signals the beginning of their class.
"Alright class, today we are going to be learning about counting atoms."
