Mason was woken up early the next morning by his phone constantly kicking out alerts. He slowly sat up as every muscle in his body screamed back at him shifting himself out from Millie's entanglement trying his best not to wake her. He grabbed his phone off the coffee table and looked at the time, it was only 6:00 am and he had two missed calls and three text messages. The calls were from Markos and so was the last Message that said he was outside the door waiting for him.
He groggily got up and made his way to the door wincing and gripping his side the whole way, wondering why Markos would be here and this early non the less. Maybe he was here to deliver the restraining order Harrison had mentioned.
He looked through the peephole and saw Markos wasn't alone and had the same woman with him that was at the Hospital and another older woman dark black hair. Thinking this could be about Zoey, Mason's heart began to plumet as he opened the door.
"Sorry for the early morning visit," Markos said as he looked him up and down. "Damn you look like hell."
"Bruises are always worse the day after," he mumbled with frustration as he gripped his side and opened the door wider waiving them in.
"What's going on?" Mason asked as he shut the door and followed them into the living room.
"Well," Markos said as he looked over at Millie who somehow didn't wake up when Mason got off the couch. "I'm not really sure we should be talking around her."
"Why is that?" Mason asked looking between the two women and Markos. "Everything I'm dealing with involves Millie."
"Charles wants me to fill you in on everything." Markos said as he looked over at the woman on his right. "But it would be best if she didn't wake up midway through our conversation, it could be confusing for her."
"Charles?" Mason asked glaring at Markos. "You work for Charles?"
"I'm a detective," Markos said in a deep growl trying to keep his voice down but his anger showing through. "Is there somewhere private we can talk?"
"There's a table outside by the pool." Mason replied still confused as to what was going on as he walked through the back sliding glass door. "Garrett's sleeping in the pool house, but he would sleep through a bomb anyway."
Markos and the two women followed him outside, they all sat around the table. The woman on the right of Markos started speaking before Markos could.
"I'm sorry for any confusion I caused you at the hospital, my name is Amanda." She said as she held her hand out to Mason. "I'm a detective and I work with Markos."
"Pleasure to meet you, and don't worry." Mason said as he shook her hand. "I just hope I can get some more details about what's going on now."
Mason immediately grabbed his side when he stopped shaking her hand, the pain radiating through his entire body. The other woman with long brown hair stood up and walked beside him placing her hand on his shoulder.
"Looks like you took a beating," she said with a soft smile the kindness radiating in her voice. "My name's Melissa, I'm a friend of Charles."
"Okay," Mason said with confusion looking between the three of them. "Can someone please explain to me what's going on now?"
"There's so much more going on in this world than you know Mason," Markos began as he looked across the table at him. "You weren't fighting another man in the ring yesterday; you were fighting a beast. Technically a hybrid between human and beast."
"What do you mean?" Mason asked as he looked between the three of them. "How is that possible?"
"He was bitten by a werewolf," Amanda said with a serious look on her face. "More specifically he was turned by one of Damien's men a few years ago."
