PROLOGUE
"Do you, Daphne Vincent take this man, Aaron Nicholas as your husband, to love him and to honour him, to nurture, serve and support him, in times of joy and in times of difficulty? Do you promise to remain by his side regardless of what trouble befalls you, and in the presence of temptation to forsake this love, do you promise to remain steadfast and true? Do you promise with all your heart and soul to honour this vow till death do you part?"
"I do" she knew her fate was sealed as soon as the words left her mouth.
"Do you Aaron Nicholas take this woman Daphne Vincent as your wife, to love her and to honour her, to nurture, serve and support her, in times of joy and in times of difficulty? Do you promise to remain by her side regardless of what trouble befalls you, and in the presence of temptation to forsake this love, do you promise to remain steadfast and true? Do you promise with all your heart and soul to honour this vow till death do you part?"
She waited as he took his time to comply. Maybe he would have a change of mind now, she wouldn't mind being left at altar. Even she didn't want to marry him anyway, not when she knew he was here because of parental pressure. "I do" she still heaved out breath that she didn't realized she was holding.
"You have declared your consent before the Church. May the Lord in his goodness strengthen your consent and fill you both with his blessings. What God has joined, men must not divide. Amen.
Ladies and gentlemen, friends, family, loved ones; it is with great pleasure that I now introduce to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas. Bridegroom may now kiss the bride."
She bit her lip, she had forgotten about the intimate rituals. She looked up. Her doubtful ones met his neutral eyes. She hoped he wouldn't find her as repulsive as she thought. She sucked in her breath as he bent over her, eyes still locked. It was just a brush when his lips touched hers and left. She blinked twice, maybe he found her too ugly to linger on at least for the public display.
He felt dizzy with all heat in church and specially that emanated from his bride. He hated family gatherings and this day he had to stay in the limelight. He just wanted to get it over with.
He glanced at the girl that stood beside him, 5' 2" hardly reaching his shoulder, clad in white dress that covered her from neck to toe. She looked up at him sensing his weighing gaze. He couldn't help noticing her big, brown, talkative eyes. She was beautiful.
