3rd POV
“Can you not fire my substitute every time I find a suitable one?” A pale man in white grumbled as he held stacks of files in hand. He tosses his long white hair behind him as he slammed the folders onto (M/N)’s black desk, causing his teacup to rattle at the force. (M/N) stilled his cup as he calmly dragged the folder towards him, opening it as he spoke, “Why do you bother looking for one, Singe?”
Singe narrowed his eyes as he pointed an accusing finger at him, “I find one because you have this need to dump all your responsibilities onto me so you can spend time with Hope. Not that I hate it, but now and then, I need a few extra pairs of hands to help me.”
(M/N) hummed in thought as he slowly sipped his tea, skimming through the papers, “I fire them because they are incompetent. Nothing more, nothing less.” Singe rose a brow as he glanced at the doors behind him, “Of course you did. However, I heard from Rei and Reign that it was either because they didn’t respect your time with Hope, or they tried to get in your pants.” (M/N) stopped his actions as he glared at Singe, his Haki slipping out, “Watch yourself.” Singe raised his hands in the air, silently telling him he’ll let it go. (M/N) sighed in out loud before scanning the papers through his hand once more, as he asked, “So Monkey D. Garp managed to smuggle Ace away as they killed Rouge. It seems Garp dumped him in Foosha Village with someone named Curly Dadan. Who is that?”
Singe pulled a clipboard from his suit as he flipped through a couple of pages, “It says here that she’s a mountain bandit and a wanted criminal.” (M/N) frowned at the answers as he grabbed another piece of paper and read it. With a low hum, (M/N) leaned on his hand as he spoke the words aloud, “I see. Garp pulled her out of prison and has her indebted to him. How amusing.” After a few seconds of silence, (M/N) placed the paper down and gave an order, “Task Cancer to watch over him. Have them report to me every week.” Singe rose a brow as he scribbled that down on his notebook, “I’m surprised you’re keeping your promise to Roger.”
(M/N) gave him a questioning look to which Singe answered, “You don’t often trust people you only met a handful of times.” (M/N) often wondered why he was putting all this effort as well but could never put a finger on it. (M/N) leaned against his chair as he sighed, “I don’t understand it either, but it’s just something I feel compelled to do.” Suddenly, a loud bell rang throughout the Palace, which caused (M/N) to close his eyes in annoyance, as he rose, walking towards the door, “It’s time for the Levely once more. Prepare my ship while I get Hope dressed.” Singe rolled his eyes as he wrote one last thing on his notes, “I know. You don’t have to tell me every time a Levely happens.”
(M/N) gave him a small glare as he slammed the door behind him before turning his gaze to Rei and Reign. The twins continued to stay at attention, not minding his accusing glare, acting as if nothing was wrong. (M/N) scoffed as he ruffled his (H/C) hair, “Stop gossiping with Singe about his unprofessional replacements.” Rei spoke first as her face remained blank, “At least we didn’t tell him about the one you sent to the Abyss.” (M/N) froze as Reign continued, “We could have said a lot more, but we had your pride in mind, sir.” (M/N) retracted his hand from his hair, slowly clenching his hand.
