Odd Ones Out (Middle School Akitoya AU)

Chapter 2 - An Accident..

The sun shone brightly through the living room curtains. The rays of sunlight woke up Akito. He lazily opened his eyes, greeted by his worst enemy fast asleep. He sat up, realising he had fell asleep on the other boy. He looked around, desperately checking around to see if anyone else were there. Fortunately, nobody was there. He sighed in relief and tried to wake Toya up.
" Toya. Wake up. "
He pulled a small piece of his hair, but didn't seem to wake him up.
" Toya! "
Akito yanked his hair, making Toya finally wake up.
" Ow! What was that for?! "
" AHEM?! I FELL ASLEEP. "
" Yeah? "
" ON YOU! "
" Oh. I forgot about that.. look, you were crying so much you literally passed out. I wasn't going to carry you up the stairs, so I just slept on the sofa. You crawled onto me. "
" Couldn't you of just.. y'know. Push me off?! I would've totally understood. "
Toya sighed quietly. The truth is, he didn't want to hurt him. He was so upset that night, he didn't want to inflict anymore pain. But he won't tell him that.
" Sorry. I didn't think of that. "
" Hmph. Think first. "
Akito got off of him and went to his kitchen to make breakfast. He placed a cheesecake on the table and cut 2 pieces. One for him, and one for Toya. He put them on two separate plates and gave one to Toya, who just sat up on the sofa.
" Thank you! "
" Yeah, your welcome. "
He sat down next to the taller boy, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. Akito noticed Toya seemed to smile whilst eating his cheesecake. He stared at him, not touching his cheesecake.
Toya noticed and stared at him back. Akito shivered. He had never been this close to someone. He didn't have many friends growing up, so this was a new to him. When he was younger, the only person that came over to his house was Emu, his childhood friend.
" Akito? "
" Huh? Oh, yeah? "
" You okay? You keep on staring. "
" I'm fine. "

Akito blushed heavily. He didn't like Toya, hell, he hated Toya, but what he has been doing to him makes him dislike him less. He still didn't like him, but not as much as he did only yesterday. Wait.. yesterday? He despised Toya ages ago.. what was he doing?!

" Are you gonna eat that? "
" Wha-? Oh, yeah I'm going to eat it. "
" Hmm. Didn't look like it. "
" I never not eat cheesecake. " Toya laughed softly.

After they finished, they practiced their performance for a little longer.
" Hey, Toya. We have a month to finish this and we've already perfected it. How about we take a break? "
" Sure, we can take a break if you want to. "
" I'm sure there's some clothes that'll fit you.. come with me. " They walked upstairs, but was rudely interrupted by Akito's older sister, Ena.
" Hey, gay ginger. Whatcha up to? Gonna make out in a more private setting? "
" Shut the fuck up, suicidal Sally. " Before she could say anything, he shoved Toya into his room and slammed the door behind him.
" That was a little harsh. " Akito was scrambling through his closet for something Toya could wear.
" I call her suicidal Sally all the time. It's the truth, sadly. "
" Her name isn't Sally? "
" Yeah, but she's- "
" I understand. "
" Alright. " Akito chucked him a shirt.
" That'll fit, right? "
" Hm. " He studied the tag on the inside if the shirt. " Yep. "
" Okay. " He kept his head in the closet, so Toya could put his shirt on. After Toya changed, he lightly tapped his shoulder. Akito turned around, one eye open.
" Right. Your dressed.. now you need trousers, hold on. " He quickly grabbed a pair of trousers and handed them to him.
" Thank you. " Akito turned back around. Toya lightly tapped his shoulder once again.
" Okay, you done? "
" Mhm. " Akito swiveled around.
" Alrighty. Where did you want to go? "
" Hmmm... I don't mind. "
"Do you wanna go to that karaoke place? "
"Sure! "
They quickly ran downstairs and left the house to the karaoke bar.
They opened the door and saw a crowd of people swarming a stage with two girls singing ' Washing Machine Heart ' by Mitski. Akito grabbed a firm grasp of Toya's hand, making his heart jolt. He pulled the taller man towards the front of the crowd. Akito still kept his grasp. Toya's heart was in his throat. He wanted to kiss him so bad, but he'd being moving too fast.
" They have a nice singing voice, don't you think? "
"Yeah, I agree! " Toya's smile brightened, making Akito happier. Akito didn't really like loud noises, so he let go of Toya's hand so he could cover his ears. Toya noticed and put one of his arms around his waist.

You okay? "
" I don't like loud noises. "
" We can go somewhere quieter? "
" Okay.. " He uncovered his ears and latched onto Toya. They both waddled and sat down at a booth, further away from the stage so it was quieter, but close enough so you could still hear it. He rested his head on the taller boy's shoulder. Both of their faces went red.
" Thank you. Jeez.. I can't believe I hated you yesterday. You're.. such a loving person.. but why? Nobody likes me. "
" Because, Akito. I know we got off on the wrong foot, but I genuinely think you're wonderful! I know, if people got to know you, you're beautiful, lovable, sweet.. I could go on forever. " Akito stayed silent, taking in what he just heard.

" Toya.. I love you so fucking much. "
" H-Huh..?! "
