Chapter 1

Ashley sat right up on bed, throwing the soft white duvet off her body.

School at 9. But it's Tuesday, that means she gets to go to the extra guitar class with Jacob Stein after school.

Jacob Stein is the boy next door. Steins are the neighbours of the Jenner family. This 17-year-old boy has been friends with the 17-year-old Ashley Jenner for as long as they remember. They're basically joined at the hip.

As for their families, Jenners and Steins are good friends and have business in partnership, Even Ashley and Jacob's parents went to the same high school. Due to this close bond between their families, Ashley and Jacob were brought up together.

Ashley got off the bed to get ready for school. She took a quick shower and then started choosing her outfit for the day. She ended up choosing a mint green coloured, cuffed full sleeve skater dress, that reached her mid-thigh. She tied her hair into a messy bun and checked herself into the mirror. No. She let her brown curls down that reached under her shoulders. Just a touch of mascara and lip gloss, and she's ready for the day.

She ran down the stairs humming a tune and sliding the sleek golden watch around her wrist to meet her parents.
"Honey, your breakfast is on the table"
"No, mum. I'm not hungry. I'll get something later"
"You're late again, young lady."
"Dad, just 300 seconds!"
"Jacob's already waiting outside."
"Thanks", she mumbled before running out of the house.

"Jay!"Ashley called to the back of a curly headed brunette. "Ash, we're late.C'mon." Jacob turned towards Ashley, and stopped breathing for a second.

"Your dress, it-it looks amazing. It's so pretty. I love this outfit." Jacob stuttered.
"My dress is pretty, but what 'bout me?"

"I-uh. You're beautiful Ash, you know that."

"Thanks, Jay. Now you can stare at my dress in the car if we don't wanna be late"

"Oh, yeah. 'm sorry."

They hurried into the car. Jacob played with the soft fabric of Ashley's dress between his fingers while they sat in the car.

Great, it's already 35 minutes late to the first period. Well, it was Physics for Ashley and Geography for Jacob. Neither enjoyed the period so it did not matter.

They took their sweet time at the locker and strolled slowly to the respective classrooms.

"Miss Jenner you're late. And it's only the second day of school!"

"'M sorry Mrs Johnson"

"Get in." she scoffed

Ashley ran to sit at the empty desk beside Nancy Chantlet.

"Hi Nancy!" Ashley greeted her friend with a whisper.
"Hi"
"Ladies, stop talking and pay attention to the class. Miss Jenner, come and solve this problem on board."

"Good luck!" Nancy wished Ashley.
"I need that", Ashley said before walking to the board.

Good luck was it really. the bell Rang—the class was over, everyone scurried out of the classroom. Nancy and Ashley walked together to the locker room talking about their favourite boy band.

"Jay, there you are!" Ashley rushed to him and wrapped her arms around his torso. a similar response was returned by Jacob.
"Where's your brother?" Jacob asked Nancy.
"Down with fever."

Just an "oh" was his reply but his face wrinkled with worries

"You can come home with me and visit him," Nancy shrugged.
"No, he can't; he has guitar class with me after school!"
"You both are welcome anytime."
"So tomorrow we shall after school." Jacob replied.
"Sure."

The trio collected their books from their respective lockers and headed towards their respective class. Ashley left for the maths class while the other two chatted while walking to their Economics class.

Whenthe final bell rang all the students exited the classroom. Nancy soon joinedAsh and Jay at their meeting place. They walked together to the cafeteria andtalked some more over food before Ashley and Jacob walked to the guitar classjust stopping at their homes to pick up their guitars.
