As I bang on the door, I hear Jean shuffling towards me. He swings the door open and pulls me inside. I wasn't quite prepared for what I'm seeing. Uncle Jim is sat on a chair with the seat punched out and naked.

"What the f***, Jean?! What have you been doing to him??"

"You don't want to know."

"HE was literally busting my balls, E! Get me out of here!"

"She says she knows the passcode; if she does, you're free. The girl too."

"Yes, I believe I know it! It's-"

Suddenly, a group of men burst in through the door, all wielding guns. Jean's eyes grow to the size of baseballs as he looks at them.

"You'll get your money…," he trails off nervously.

"Money isn't as valuable as knowing who to trust," the older one says, and pulls the trigger.

"No!," I yell, throwing myself in front of Jean.

I feel the sharp entry of the bullet into my back and the bullet lodge into a lung. Jean's arms wrap around me as I fall to the ground. He stares down at me, dumbfounded, a red tear dropping from his eye onto my cheek. I look over at uncle Jim, his face contorted with anger and shock.

"Jim…," I barely whisper.

"I'll get you! you're a dead man!," Jim bellows at the man who shot me just before he's knocked out.

I feel my eyes slowly begin to roll backwards.

"Jean…"

He's gawking down at me; his voice is muffled as well.

"Evie," he says as tears flow down his face.

I hear what sounds like a faint gunshot, and feel Jean's blood splash on me. He falls over onto me, his eyes staring into mine.

'He... He's…'

Everything goes black and silent.
