As we were about to step out of the car, Deus wrapped his arms around me and pushed me against the steering wheel, his whisper in my ear sending shivers down my spine. "Are you able to walk? Or do you want me to carry you like a princess?" he asked, his voice gentle and teasing.
I giggled and playfully groaned, trying to push him away. "Stooop! No, I can walk just fine," I said, but as I got out of the car, I tripped and almost fell flat on my face.
Deus quickly grabbed the back of my elbow and pulled me to my feet, his movements so fast that I blinked several times in surprise. I looked up at him, feeling a little embarrassed. "Th-Thanks, Deus," I stammered.
He raised a brow and smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You sure you're okay?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
I nodded and smiled back, trying to reassure him. "Yes, I'm fine," I said, and he grabbed my hand, interlacing our fingers together.
As we walked to the entrance, I couldn't help but think about Deus's behavior. He had been acting so differently lately, sweeter, and more considerate. I wondered if it was because of Dietrich, if the mention of his name had brought out a softer side of Deus.
My heart started to pick up speed from anxiety, and I impulsively asked, "Deus... how long were you and Dietrich together...? How did you guys meet...? Were you... happy when you found out he was pregnant...?"
Deus stopped at the entrance of his door, his expression surprised and a little guarded. He let out a nervous laugh and rubbed the back of his neck, his eyes darting away from mine. "Why... don't we continue this inside...?" he suggested, his voice a little hesitant.
I felt a pang of curiosity and concern, sensing that there was more to Deus's story than he was letting on. I nodded, and we stepped inside, the door closing behind us with a soft click.
As we entered Deus's penthouse, he immediately took off his jacket and placed it on the coat rack. He pulled out his pack of cigarettes and lit one up, the flame from the lighter casting a brief glow on his face.
I walked over to the white sectional couch, sitting down and biting my lip as the silence grew. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything, I thought, wondering if I had overstepped my bounds.
But Deus seemed willing to talk, taking a deep drag on his cigarette and exhaling slowly. He sat across from me, his eyes gazing off into the distance as he began to speak.
"Dietrich and I were together for centuries... It's been so long I can't really remember exactly," he said, his voice low.
I perched forward, my eyes fixed on him in surprise. He was actually going to tell me about his past with Dietrich?
Deus ashed his cigarette on the floor and took another drag, his gaze still fixed on the ground. "Let's see... uhh...When souls go to Hell and end up in my level, I torture them in sexual ways... but most of the time, it was just orgies."
My eyes widened in shock, and I hoped Deus didn't see me looking disgusted. But he kept talking, his voice matter-of-fact.
"I met Dietrich during an orgy, and he was immediately popular with all the other souls. There was something about him that drew me to him besides the popularity... even though that did pique my interest."
Deus took a long drag on his cigarette and exhaled slowly, his eyes still fixed on the ground. "I am supposed to cast all the souls to the next level of Hell whenever I felt like it. Or if I don't think they're worthy to continue, I could eat them or make them a sex slave. So... I decided to go with that decision for Dietrich."
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I asked my next question. "How-How many sex slaves... do you have?"
Deus chuckled, ashing his cigarette and smiling big as he flashed me his fangs. "Too many to count. But he was definitely my number one favorite."
