(Enjoy!)

As I sat in my class I could hear kids talking gossiping and other things but I ignored it and continued to listen to the teacher as best I could. There were many popular people in my school but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I however was one of those students who always get picked on for how you are or what you do. It was just normal for me considering that this was a high school and I was 16. I knew that one of my friends Ray was one of the popular kids they played soccer but i haven't talked to them since 7th grade but that's life for ya i guess.
A few hours went by and I had just finished my third class I looked at my phone as I was walking down the school hallway. It was around 11:30
Am.
I Sighed as I mumbled to myself. "It's going to be lunch soon maybe I'll just get a bag of chips or something...since I can't afford lunch.."
I continued walking down the same hallway. I wasn't paying attention and bumped into someone by accident. We both ended up falling on the ground.
"HEY LOOK WERE YOUR GOING!" The said person yelled at me.
As soon as we both got up the person pushed me down again.
Everybody started tø laugh at me as well as the person.
I felt horrible that that moment I was close to crying.
"HEY BACK AWAY FROM HER NOW!" everyone turned see who yelled.
As soon as I turned around as well my eyes widen
"RAY?!" I shouted in shock.
Ray stood there wearing their usual black jeans they always wore a teen top with a blue jacket also black gloves. They also had black hair with faded red dye. And their pale red eyes and X earrings that were green. Ray was they/them though they were a female.
They quickly ran over to me. They helped me up
They slapped the person while yelling at them.
"YOU NEVER PUT YOUR HANDS ON MY FRIENDS DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT!?" Ray yelled at the person the person quickly nodded. Ray grabbed my hand and we both walked to the gym where there were a few people but not many. We both sat behind the bleachers.
they sat down then I did.
"You alright kai?" Ray said as they looked at me.
"Yeah I think so thanks for standing up for me." I said looking back at them.
"No problem I will always do it for my friends" they said with a smile.
"You didn't have to help me ya know? since your popular."
I said with a painful smile.
Ray took notice in this and spoke up.
"Kai...just cause we had a bad fight back in 7th grade doesn't mean I never stoped being your friend.... Okay? Your still my friend do you forgive me?" Ray had some blush on as they said that.
I smiled. "Yeah I do." I said as I saw Ray sigh.
"Also never knew you could be a softy" I said with a smirk as well as joking.
"WHA- N-NO IM NOT!!" ray yelled with more blush growing on their face.
"Oh really then why is your face red hm?" I said laughing.
"I-I- YOU- I- GAHHH!" Ray yelled in frustration covering their face.
We were talking for a few minutes about different things happening except I kept dodging every question every time Ray asked about my eye or family life. I just wasn't comfortable in talking about it soon enough Ray stoped asking as In seeing I was uncomfortable with Their questions on my family life and my left eye. "Sooo....did cam already tell you or?" I looked up as Ray spoke.
"Tell me what?" I had a confused face. "Oh! my bad I forgot to mention that cam already sent a text out to me and the others!"
As Ray said that I nodded. "So you already know we're going to have a sleepover tonight and going to a few places after school and cams mom ms J is going to pick us up instead of taking the bus's we're on?" as I spoke Ray nodded. "Yeah something like that" Ray nodded.
"So have you thought of getting a job when your 17 kai?" Ray asked me while I looked at them. "Well...I wasn't really thinking on it you know? It hasn't ever come across my mind." I said while messing with my hair. "Well you know that I'm 17 myself. So maybe if you like kai...if you...umm..." as Ray was talking their face was slowly getting redder. "Um are you okay Ray?" I reached out my hand.
"Yeah! I'm fine I'm...fine...it's just Aahh...this is very embarrassing to say....maybe after you turn 17 tomorrow if you would like to work with me at my job..?" Rays face was red as a tomato.
"R...Ray wants to give me a j...job...?" I thought to myself as my face slowly grew into happiness.
"L..look it's all up to you kai. I'm just trying to make up for the years we didn't talk...and I-..." Ray looked up and saw my face that was crying.
"Ah!? Kai are you okay?! D...did that make you cry?!" Ray had a panic face on.
"no you didn't...I'm just glad you asked me that....it's going to be a yes....I for sure..." I wiped my tears away.
Rays smile grew as they hugged me.
I hugged back tightly.
the problem was I wasn't thinking about what my mother would think at that time I was just so happy to be given a way out of my abuse mom and have a happier life after high school.
"Thank you Ray...." I smiled up at them.
"Of course kai! that's what childhood friends are for!" Ray said with a smile.
I laughed a little and elbowed Ray In a joking way.
"Oh shut up! You can't just hold that over my head Ray!" I laughed.
"Oh why of course I can! we been friends since kindergarten kai~" Rays voice had a tease in it and it made me roll my eyes.
we both stood up from the bleachers and out to the middle of the gym seeing no one there.
"That's odd...there were a few people in here kai what time is it? My phone is currently in my bag in my locker." Ray asked while looking somewhat down at me, Ray was about 5'9 I myself was only 5'2. "Let me see-....." I stoped short as I looked at my phone.
"What's wrong?" Ray looked over at my phone and stoped.
"It's literally 12:12 pm...?" Ray asked slowly looking at me as I did The same.
"Ohhh hehe we're going to be late for lunch..." I said with a panic smile.
"Not if we run!" Ray said with a confident smile.
"So they want to play like that huh...? Well...two can play at that..." I thought with a smirk.
"LAST ONE TO THE CAFETERIA IS A SLOW BUM!" I yelled while running Ray knew I was fast.
"HEY AT LEAST GIVE ME A COUNT DOWN BEFORE DOING THAT KAI!" Ray yelled while running after me.
we both were running down the halls to the cafeteria laughing the whole way there. I had a fun time just by being with one of my closest friends again we both were bumping into each other trying to make the other one trip or fall so the other could win but we both kept our footing and kept running. soon enough we where in a crowd of people who where going to lunch but quickly made our way through it soon enough we made it and were ready to eat lunch.
