Kellin's POV:
I got to first period just as everyone was walking in the door and rushed to take my seat in the penultimate row. I waited until registration was over before getting my earphones out of my pocket; it makes it less obvious that I'm not listening, if I answer the register at the beginning of class.
Before I could press play on my music I heard the door open and Miss say, "Oh, hello. Yes. Class, today we have a new..." I wasn't listening to what she was saying, instead I just stared down towards the floor.
My head was still looking down at my desk, my fingers fiddling with my earphone cords. I didn't want to look up; I tried to sink down into my chair as much as possible so Miss wouldn't realise I was in class, so she wouldn't make me work. I wasn't really listening to what she was saying, I was just hoping she would get on with the lesson so I could go back to listening to music and daydreaming. But I could still hear her talking. I looked up to see why Miss wasn't getting on with the lesson; I wish she'd hurry up so I could get back to listening to my music.
I froze.
I looked over to the door, to where Miss was standing. But she wasn't alone. Someone stood next to her, staring back at me. The two of us kept our eyes locked on each other while Miss carried on talking to the class. I couldn't hear what she was saying because I started feeling nauseous all of a sudden. My hearing began to fade as my eyesight fuzzed and my head began to sway back and forth. I think I'm going to faint.
Everything went black and all I could feel was the sudden thwunk my body made with the floor as I slipped out of my seat. I lay there for only a minute but it felt like hours had gone by when I fluttered my eyes open again. Miss was knelt down infront of me, saying something. My hearing was still not one hundred percent so I couldn't quite make out the words she was expressing. My head was still spinning as I looked round the classroom around me. Everyone was looking at me with amused expressions on their face; some were laughing while others sat there in disbelief that the freak of the class just collapsed.
I looked down to my arms and saw that my sweatshirt had risen up, exposing my bandages wounds. I quickly pulled my sleeves down, my face burning from embarrassment, hoping nobody saw my self-harm scars. But someone did...him. He stood there, mouth open, gaping as his eyes were locked on my arms.
My head stopped spinning and my hearing returned. "Kellin? Kellin are you okay? Do you want to go to the nurse?" Miss asked, still knelt upfront of me.
I couldn't take this. He was here. Everyone was looking at me. I just fainted. I had to get out of here...now.
"Uh, no, no...I'm, I'm fine." I said to Miss as I picked up my bag and ran to the door. I ran straight past him, with my head down, as fast as I could. I couldn't breath properly, my chest burning from shock and embarrassment. How could he be here? I tried so hard to avoid him, but now he's at my school!?
Tears were threatening to spill from my eyes as I ran outside, into the football field. I sped to the back of the bleachers and scrambled underneath the seats. I threw my bag on the ground, swearing to myself as I fell to the ground. Tears sprung from my eyes, I couldn't hold it back anymore; my breathing started to get shallow, I was frantically gasping for oxygen. Great, now I'm having a panic attack.
I tried calming myself down but the more I tried the worse it got. Tears were practically flying from my eyes and my breathing was so rapid and faint that it felt like I was having a heart attack. In fact, I was pretty sure I was having a heart attack.
How could he be here? Why would he be here? There are different schools in this town, so why did he have to go to my school? I've tried my hardest to avoid him, but now he is here. I don't know what to do.
