"I can't believe she fell for that." Alice said as she laid in her bed.
"With her skill, I'm sure she can kill many people in the time span of 24 hours, but with her cockiness, she's not gonna think she's gonna get caught. One wrong move.. and BAM!" Alice fantasized.
"She'll finally be out of my way. I'm so tired of her. And how she calls me names. My stomach feels all weird when it happens and I hate it."
She got a call from a random number.
"Not this again," she said as she pressed decline.
They left a voicemail.
They left a voicemail? She thought. Hm.
She was about to listen to the voicemail when she got a second call from the same number.
"Must really be important." She said as she picked up the phone.
"Hel-"
"Greetings. Does this happen to be Alice Hayes?" The voice on the phone said.
"Uh.. yeah? How do you know my na-" They cut her off.
"We have been watching you very closely, and we were wondering if you wanted to join us. You could use some training."
"HEY! How could you say tha- Wait wait wait. How have you been watching me? Who is 'us?' I have so many questions."
"I'm sure you do. Remember that river you dumped your second to last victim's body into? We're not far from there. Keep going west until you see a leaf pile. Jump into it. Don't question it. Just do it."
"Why would I trust you? I don't even know your na-"
"See you there. Or else."
"Stop cutting me o-"
The mystery person hung up on her.
"How do they know my name, let alone my full government name? Why would I trust them? How have they been watching me? Drones perhaps? Hidden cameras? And what did they mean by 'or else?'" She completely spaced out as she contemplated on going.
Well.. maybe I should go. I don't want to risk anything. Maybe it's a secret lair. ... ... Alice what the hell?! This is no cartoon. It's probably just a bunch of low-lives trying to rob people. But then again they do know my full name.. maybe they're scammers who so happen to be hackers. I should probably go, I'll be taking a big risk either way. Wait, why am I even considering this?! I'm not going, and that's final. Now that I think about it, it could be a trauma response because someone's actually inviting me to something.. I'll just impulsively say yes. I've noticed that about myself. Is that why I'm rejecting that girl like this? Because I don't believe she actually means what she says? Why am I getting off topic?.. I'm supposed to be thinking about this random ass phone call I just got, yet I'm thinking about her.. Why? How did she come into play? Ugh.. here I go again. What is wrong wi-
"Attention citizens. Please stay inside and do not open the door for anyone." The TV interrupted her thoughts.
"I forgot I even had the TV on.." She muttered to herself in amazement. She didn't know she could just tune everything out like that.
"Twenty people have been found dead in the past five hours. We don't know what the actual cause is at the moment, but from the ovular bloody holes on the late people's bodies, we are suspecting that there is a serial killer on the loose. In case this is the issue, we advise you to not trust anybody."
"In broad daylight?! Dang, she's getting competitive." I just realized I never caught her name.. She got off track. Anyways. "Maybe I should see what those people have to offer.. If they try anything, I'll just kill them. Easy, right?" Alice said to herself, trying to give herself false confidence.
