STEAL MY CLOTHES
:: xxviii. | meet the apricots[ 1 MONTH & A HALF LATER ]
It was the morning on a Tuesday and it was the mid of August. Two in the afternoon and Alexa was going to be home in an hour to go help Sarah for when her parents arrive from the airport. She hasn't seen them in over a little three years but she talks to them daily. She was over the moon when they began making plans to come and now they'll be here soon.
One conversation in particular she's been anticipating is her relationship with Alexa. She knows they'll be fine with gender but it's the person. If the person doesn't have a good personality, they will outright show they don't like them. Why do you think they didn't see each other for those years? She was dating drew at the time and he was a dick. Also life got in the way and no one had time to see each other until now.
Sarah finally got up after laying there and staring at the ceiling for the last fifteen minutes. She had a late night and was still tired. Which is why she ordered Starbucks in those fifteen minutes.
After going to the bathroom and brushing her teeth, the doorbell rang and she went down in her pajamas to answer it. As she expected, her coffee and muffin from Starbucks. She decided to eat and drink before getting dress for the day. By the time she got out the shower and began to get dress, Alexa was just walking through the door.
Alexa closed the door behind her and then tossed her bag on the couch as she made her way to the staircase to go upstairs. On her way up, she took off her shoes then sat them beside the door to the bedroom.
"Hey." Alexa wrapped her arms around her girlfriend, "You leave in an hour right?"
"Yeah . . " Sarah turned to face her, "You nervous?"
"Considering this is my first time meeting someone's parents — then yeah, kinda." Alexa lightly chuckled.
"I love you, so they'll love you." Sarah reasoned. Sarah kissed Alexa's nose before turning back around and sliding a pair of jeans on.
Alexa soon retreated downstairs to let her girlfriend finish getting dress while she called her agent and have that talk that was long overdue scheduled.

Sarah had just arrived to the airport and parked on the curb, waiting for her parents. Once she saw them coming out, she then got out the car and greeted them. As they made their way to the car, they chatted a bit and Sarah helped them load their things in the trunk.
After her dad loaded the last suitcase, he got in from the back while her mom got in on the passenger's side.
The whole way home was talk after talk. There was not a silent or dull moment and that's what it's like with them. That's how close she is with them. Their conversation ranged from family all the way to Sarah's career and Gwyneth Paltrow, along side apple. As they talked about them, Sarah realized she hasn't spoken to them in awhile either.
The ride was as long as usual, like forty-five minutes. It was pass six at night and her parents haven't eaten since early in the morning. Sarah suggested she would help them settle in then if they want to go out for dinner that's on the table but also ordering in is fine as well. They happen to agree going out would be more fun.
So Sarah did what she suggested, she helped out her parents and then afterwards everyone found themselves downstairs in the living room which is when Alexa made her cue.
"Mom and dad, you know of Alexa." Sarah introduced her girlfriend but wasn't that technical yet.
Her dad snapped his fingers, "Euphoria! Maddy . . . she's a badass."
All of them lightly chuckled.
"Speaking of badasses, Sarah is one too." Alexa spoke.
Sarah smiled at the compliment then turned to her parents. She deeply sighed, "Mom and dad, I want to tell you something." She paused, "Me and Alexa aren't just roomies. We're more like dating — you know, girlfriends."
No one said anything. Sarah's mom just wrapped her arms around her daughter. But it was still silent. It was like that until her dad rested one of his hands on Alexa's shoulder.
"I hope she's nice to you."
Alexa was amused by the light humor, "Not in the beginning."
He nodded, "That sounds about right."
"Hey!" Sarah exclaimed as her arms were still wrapped around her mom.
Sarah's mom pulled away and just looked into her daughter's eyes, "I am so proud of you. Like me and your father said when you were growing up, love who you want and do what you want in life as long as you're happy." She concluded, "Are you happy?"
Sarah looked at Alexa with a bright smile as she responded, "Definitely."
Her mother smiled as she went and wrapped her arms around her husband, "Then me and your father have done our job."
Smiles went all around and everyone thought it was about time they damn ate already. So Alexa and Sarah took them out for tacos at this cool joint downtown.
As the rest of the night went on, there was tons of laughter, smiles, hugs and even fans. It was clear to say that Sarah's parents enjoyed Alexa and Alexa enjoyed them. After drew she thought she wouldn't feel this happy again but she's glad she took the jump even though it was a bit rocky and scary in the beginning.
Being a bitch in the beginning can only get you oh so far.
