The two met up outside of the police station, they went inside with Bane trotting right behind them(you're all idiots if you think for even a second that Sarah would leave him behind). They stared at the very occupied building, officers and other co-workers pacing back and forth, scared whispers flying through the high tension air. "Hey, you two are here!" They looked over to see Martinez walking over. "Yeah...the whole moon thing has us a little freaked out," Martinez nodded, "Yeah dude, it has everyone a little freaked out...okay maybe a little more than freaked out but you get my point." The two nodded before Moth sighed and headed to the break room.
"Hey, where are you going?" "Coffee." "....Can I have some?" a grunt was his response. "Make it two!" Sarah shouted out just as Moth headed into the room, snickering as a long resided sigh rang out from the detective. "Ah...welp, this is going to be an interesting night." Sarah nodded in agreement with the officer and waited a few moments before challenging him to a game of pool on their phones. They got comfortable at his desk and began a tense game of pool, squinting their eyes at each other as if they were trying to read the other's next move.
The game went on for a few moments onger, as both were eager to end the game to see the winner, Martinez raising an eyebrow at the mischievous glint that glazed her eyes. "Bane, boop." He blinked, aiming his next shot only for something to bump into his arm and push his hand off the screen, causing the stick to push the ball at a misdirected angle. He looked down to see what pushed him, only to find Bane who booped him again. He quickly picked his head up to see Sarah as she made a successful shot and let out a victorious cackle. "Dude, don't cheat." She simply smirked at him smugly, "Hey I wasn't cheating, simply having Bane show ya some affection." The officer rolled his eyes, "Whatever makes you sleep better at night." His grumpy aura was swiped away as he partner walked over, "Hey Cooper buddy, do you want a belly rub? Oh yes you do, oh yes you do."
The young woman chuckled as Martinez cooed at his companion and spoiled him with belly rubs, kicking her feet up onto his desk and simply shrugged at the dirty look she received from him for doing so. She peaked an eye open as she heard footsteps approaching and then opened the other, reaching a hand out to grab the cup of coffee Moth was leaning out towards her. She yawned before taking a sip of the bitter, but warm coffee out of the styrofoam cup. She watched as the detective lightly dismissed the thanks from the officer before sitting on the floor next to Bane, who simply laid down next to her, putting his head in her lap.
The three of them enjoyed their coffees while the other two enjoyed the pets and belly rubs they had received in the meantime. Despite the bitter taste and the warm being able to both wake her up and get her energized for the mornings, the coffee tonight seemed to do the exact opposite, making her crave the sweet dreams she was used to from sleep and the warmth of her bed. She let out a heavy sigh as she tossed the cup in the conveniently placed trash bin and leaned back in the chair once more, letting her eyes slip shut and let the sounds of her two new friends talking lull her to sleep.
And that was it was it for a while, the other two workers of the law blinked when they got a light snore in response, Martinez raised an eyebrow when the detective grabbed a sharpie from his desk then rolled his eyes and shook his head when Moth nudged their head back to direct it at Sarah, shaking the sharpie slightly. Moth pouted, "You're no fun, but I'll just do it by myself then." Martinez muttered something about the detective being childish but it was chosen to be ignored by the higher up.
Moth leaned over her slyly, snickering quietly to themself as they just bent the sharpie low enough to touch the skin on her face. A loud RING RING RING from another officer's desk foiled their plans, as within the next second Sarah's eyes shot open and her fist flew into the detective's face, sending them down onto the ground. Sarah rubbed her eyes, looking around before realizing where she was, then staring with a tired glaze over her eyes at Moth who was lying on the floor. "Why...are they...on the floor?" Martinez shrugged and simply looked away when Moth sent a glare his way.
She looked at the two of them before standing up and offering a hand to the detective who accepted it with a grumble. "Thanks I guess." Sarah nodded before she jumped as another phone rang throughout the precinct, the three peaked over curious to find one officer who seemed to already be on the phone panicking, it seemed like someone was being attacked on the other line. The panicking officer finally slammed the phone down, "I-It's another one of those b-beasts, they got into someone's house and killed them!" The precinct went into a tense silence, before the other officer who had also received a call had looked at the other officer. "I...I also received another call like Will's."
People looked at one other nervously, terror filling their eyes.
