Y/N pov
--
The smell of gunpowder and dust hung heavy in the air along with the smell of old dried blood. This was a smell I had gotten used to after about a week of living in this apocalyptic hellscape. I look around with my (e/c) eyes, looking for any possible hiding spot for a infected ready to try and take me out. A notice a single stray common infected. I take my (f/c) pistol out from the side of my bag and quickly shoot at it. Bam. Headshot. 20 points for me. I liked to imagine this was all one big game. It helps me cope with my situation. I continue walking down the street. Carful not to trigger anything that might cause noise. That could attract trouble.
I stomp on what was left of the common infected that I killed's head as I get to my destination. A store. Now run down since the apocalypse, its all battered and the open sign has burnt out.
I push my way in and make my way to the food section. I grab a few cans of chili and alot of canned pineapple. I like pineapple. I then made my way over to the ammo and firearms.
I grab a bunch of rifle bullet packs along with a few pistol rounds. Then I grabbed a nice looking (f/c) multi tool. It was siccors, a couple different sized knives, a fork, and a spoon all at one. This could come in handy. I put it in the pocket of my (f/c) hoodie and make my way over to the counter, but on my way, I get distracted by the most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on...
"Oh my god..!" I gasped.
It was a beautiful aluminum pink hello kitty bat! It had black lace around the handle. I quickly snatched it and held it for the first time..
" From this moment forward we will never part ways.." I whisper, my eyes wide with a smile on my face. I put the bat between my back and my backpack and carry on as I noticed a bunch of stickers. I grabbed them and put them in my backpack.
I arrived at the counter and grabbed all the candy there. I also grabbed medicine and bandages, I noticed a bunch of soda and chips so I grabbed those as well.
I zipped up my backpack and was about to exit the store when I noticed a map. It was a map of the city. I grabbed it and opened it, grabbing a pack of markers and taking the red one out, marking where the store was on the map.
"I'll be sure to visit this place again soon." I mumbled as I pushed my way back out of the store.
The rest of the way home I was bashing in common infected skulls with my new friend. And by the time I got home the bat was already covered in blood and dirt. It added to the look, really. I hopped the chain link fence. Then scrambled into the old abandoned warehouse. I opened the door and walked to a rug. I pulled the rug back to reveal a concrete trap door. I enter the trap door, making sure to pull the rug back into place after going in. Then I locked the trap door and climbed down the ladder. I sighed. Home sweet home.
It was a single room concrete storm shelter. It had an air mattress against the wall with a few squishmallows and a (f/c) weighted blanket. LED lights hung on the walls and were set to (f/c) and a non binary flag along with a pansexual flag hung on the wall proudly. I also had fake vines hanging on the opposite wall. A (f/c) fridge with a few pictures of my dad and a few stickers and sketches leaned up against the wall next to a stove and an air fryer. I put the canned food and soda in the fridge and the chips on a shelf. I then sat on my bed and took out my phone. I opened tiktok and scrolled through it.
Alot of it was old stuff from a few months ago before the infection, others were the rare survivors that still had thier phones. I have a few online friends, they live in safe houses with other people or just have really safe homes. I don't hope to meet up with them though. I'll end up either hating then or growing distant with them. I scrolled for a while before exiting tiktok. I soon check the time on my phone, 1:05 am. I then lay down and wrap myself in my weighted blanket. Drifting off to sleep in less than 5 minutes.
