The first thing you think of after waking up is the prom. Today is your first prom, you realize. It’s the first time you’re going on a date with a boy! Of course you would want it to be perfect, but you’re nervous too.

Today, you’re going to pick out flowers and bake cookies. Afterward, you’ll wear your prom dress. The dress itself is white and flowy, made of silk. It's the most expensive piece of clothing in the world. And it takes you forever to decide what color to use.

“Y/N, what are you making?” Anna asks as she enters your room.

You glance over at her. “I’m making chocolate chip cookies. I’m thinking I should use white or pink. Oh, Anna, how are you feeling?”

She gives you a wide grin. “I’m completely recovered from last night! I woke up a couple hours ago and started baking the cookies.” She walks over to where you're standing. “Oh, you did good! This looks amazing!”

“Thanks.”

Anna takes a seat on your bed. “So, are you ready for prom tomorrow? Are you gonna ask Hans to prom?” Her eyes widen. “Or maybe you guys are gonna dance, right?”

You laugh. “Yes, we’re gonna dance, Anna. Don’t worry.”

“Good.” She grins brightly. “It’s gonna be fun. You two are gonna look so cute together!”

You blush. You aren't used to compliments like these. “Well... thank you.”

“Is that a yes then?” Anna wiggles her eyebrows suggestively.

“But Y/N, you have to admit that it’s kinda funny! Hans is totally smitten with you! How can you not see that?”

Your heart flutters. Does he really love you? Is that possible? You quickly put these thoughts aside. “Um... no, I mean yeah. Yeah, I can see that.”

“I knew it! And look at him, he’s just sitting there, grinning from ear to ear! That idiot thinks you’re oblivious to him!”

You raise an eyebrow. “Really now?”

“Yep! So, tell me, how long have you known about Hans’ feelings for you?” Anna suddenly leans closer. “Or has Hans already told you?”

You frown a little. “Why would he say something about it?”

“He probably didn’t want to worry you, knowing how important your job is to you,” Anna explains. “Plus, he’s such a romantic! It makes sense that he’d confess his feelings sooner or later!”

You giggle. “I guess you’re right.”

“I am always right!”

“Uh huh. Sure. Whatever you say.”

“Hey, why aren’t you smiling anymore?”

“What do you mean?”

“Y/N, it’s been years since I've seen you smile. Something must have happened while you were gone.”

You bite your lip nervously. “Sorry, Anna. I just got overwhelmed is all. It’s... been a weird night.”

She nods sympathetically. “I know. I felt the same way the other day.” A few seconds of silence pass before Anna breaks it again. “So, do you think he likes you? Hans, I mean.”

You laugh bitterly. “I honestly don’t know. I hope he does, though.” You pause. “Maybe he will. Maybe he won’t. Either way, he’s gonna be devastated if I don’t accept his confession. I’d rather not hurt him.”

““Yeah. But anyway, how are you feeling? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, but I was worried about you yesterday…”

She sighs softly. “I’m okay, Y/N. Really.” She smiles weakly. “Just let me know if anything happens, ok? If you ever wanna talk, please don’t hesitate to come here.”
