Call of the Remains

Chapter 1

Our story begins a night in a town. Marie, a 7-year-old girl was up waiting for her mother to come home. She received some exciting news and couldn't wait to tell her. Marie heard the front door open from downstairs and jumped out of bed to meet her mother.

Marie: Mother, your finally home!!

Anais: Marie what are you still doing up?

Anais, Marie's mother asked her child. Anais is a twenty-eight-year-old single mother of Marie.

Marie: I have something to tell you!!

Anais: And this couldn't wait until the morning?

Marie: No of course not, it's too exciting and I couldn't wait to tell you.

Anais: what is it so important that you missed your bedtime?

Marie: There's a ball this weekend.

Anais: A ball?

Marie: Yes, the prince and princess are welcoming their first child, so they invited everyone in the town to be there for the greeting of her birth.

Anais: well enough of this Marie. Where is Lucas?

Marie: Oh mother, please say that you'll let us go I really want to.

Anais: I'll think about it. Now answer my question, where is Lucas?

Marie: If I tell you, promise that you won't get mad at him.

Anais: What is it about?

Marie: I promised him I wouldn't tell you; you know how you are when it comes to Uncle Lucas.

Anais: What happen Marie?

What Marie didn't know that her uncle Lucas, could hear her. He was on top of the roof not that far from her window as it was left opened just enough for him to listen in on to their conversation.

Marie: He lost his job today.

Anais: He what?

Marie: I went into town for grandpa today and saw him being kicked out of Mr. Greens bar.

Anais: Did he say why he got fired?

Marie: He said I was too young and wouldn't understand, but mother if you ask me, I'm glad that he doesn't work there anymore.

Anais: Marie where is he?

Marie: Mama, you see how Mr. Green treats the employees, it was about time uncle Lucas stood up and said something.

Anais: Marie-

Marie: Mama please don't be mad at him. He didn't do anything wrong.

Anais: Your too young to understand.

Marie: No, I'm not. Uncle Lucas is the best thing ever happened to me, to us if I must say.

Anais: What are saying?

Marie: Mother you and I both know that he has been a father to me if not a better one.

Anais: MARIE!!!!!!

Marie: What am I wrong?

Anais: I don't care how you feel about your father, you will not speak about him like that.

Marie: but it's the truth!!

Lucas: That's Enough Marie!!!!

Anais and Marie turn their attention to Marie's door. There Lucas sound as he shouted a little at his niece.

Marie: But I-

Lucas: Not buts, your mother's right, you are too young to understand. It's time for you to go to bed, should've been sleep already.
