The ride was silent and the dinner was boring, but I was glad to spend it with my family. When we got home I told Charlie that I'd see him in the morning and he smiles before heading up to the bed, and I head up myself.
I make it to my room and put on a CD on my portable CD player, moving it with me as I move around to get my makeup out and get ready for George's party. After doing my makeup, since the little bit I applied before had faded, I put my dress on but of course, this meant that I had to take off my headphones. When I did, it isn't a second later and I hear a loud bang on the roof. Charlie comes running to my room yelling, "I heard a clatter"
Scott must have read him Twas The Night Before Christmas, that's the only way he'd know what that word meant. I however don't question him and follow him as he wakes up Scott. They both rush outside but I stop to grab my black flats.
When I get outside I see a man laying on the ground and Scott looking like he just killed a man. Through a chain of events, I find out the man is supposed to be "Santa" and I go with it for Charlie's sake. I however begin to think it might be real when a ladder appears out of nowhere.
"Look here, Dad. The Rose Suchak Ladder Company." Charlie says and I assume it must be something of an inside joke between the two. I follow Scott up the ladder since he was chasing Charlie. When we get on the roof I'm surprised by a sleigh and reindeer.
Scott plays it off as a gift from the cable company with a little "We're getting the Disney Channel now. Merry Christmas." I can't help but laugh.
We get into the sleigh, and through what seems to be magic we take off. Throughout the night we deliver presents, and once reading the card that was in the jacket Scott got off of what I assume was the last Santa, I realize that Santa is indeed real.
We go throughout the night and when it seems that we're done the reindeer take off in an odd direction. We soon land somewhere cold and snowy. The reindeer run off and soon a person comes out of nowhere, and a pole comes out of the ground. "I think it's the North Pole," Charlie responds to Scott's asking what it was.
Soon the person disappears back to where they came and the ground below us begins to shake and come loose.
The sleigh starts to lower and I get chills. If this really was the north pole then I know I need to wear a warmer dress to visit again. I didn't quite accept that I was really at the north pole, but I figure that I'm not dreaming since I can actually feel the cold. I knew I wasn't dead or in a coma, so either this was the most realistic dream or I'm really in Santa's slay.
I believe in magic, yes, but this was far beyond anything I could have imagined. As the sleigh lowers I notice a whole town below us, and soon we are set down inside a stable area, that's when I notice the reindeer are there too.
There are many people here, and I notice that they look very young. The pointy ears leave me to reason that they must be Elfs.
"Charlie, stay with me okay?" I say as I'm getting out of the sled. Uncle Scott was doing the same, only he was pestering the elves, asking who was in charge. I roll my eyes and notice that one person seemed taller than everyone else, though I was a bit taller than him. I was always taller than most of the other girls. I was really only 5'9 though.
The guy, he was kinda cute, looked to be around my age. I was nervous but I knew that I needed to ask someone what was going on. Charlie had gone off with Scott, who was being told that he was the one in charge. It would make sense that if he has become Santa that there should be a second in charge or a head of some department that could explain things to us. This guy seemed to be that type of guy or at least one that would know someone in that position.
