Story of Mort Cattle

1953
School begins and Mort cattle and the other students sit on their desks, the teacher starts talking and puts on a short film from a large film roll camera called "duck and cover," the turtle goes into its shell to avoid an explosion,

"hands over your head, low to the ground, time to duck and cover the bombs are coming down"

the students start writing papers until the bell rings and mort gets his bike.

Mort started riding his bike in a small town with his friend Maynard, he returned home to meet his mom and dad "hi mum hi dad" he said, "hello son I gotta go my boss needs me" his dad said as he was reading a newspaper after returning home from work,

his cousin julie had visited mort's house and is getting ready for the dance theatre "hi auntie how do I look in this dress" julie said "aww you look wonderful in this dress" she said, "thank you" julie said

Mort watches tv and sees a commercial saying to join the military " this is your recruiter, do you want to protect your country, now you can by joining the australian army" the recruiter in the tv said "hey dad have you ever served the military" he asked "no, but you can ask your uncle about the military" his dad said, mort runs outside the backyard and climbs a tree

"hello mort I just came to visit here" robert said "hi uncle robert (gets down to the swing) I have a question" mort said " what question do you want to ask" he asked " what is it like to be at the military" he said " well being in the military you have to take orders so you could be prepared for war" he answered

"what was it like fighting is war" mort asked while swinging " not many people make it after being in war, I nearly died helping the soldiers on an island in 1944" he said while trying to control his emotions "we're you afraid" mort said "no but I was afraid of losing my friends, and i keep getting memories (grunts) I'll talk about later" he said

Robert later walked inside and his daughter ran to him "hi daddy are you ready to take me to the dance theatre" julie said "of course my princess now lets go" he said as he walked to his car called the buick super and drove her to the theatre, 10 minutes later they may get to the theater and julie walks to the stage

Her family clap their hands as they see her and the other dancers dance around in the stage, 20 minutes later the dance club ended and julie walked downstairs to see her dad and mom with a smile on her face and hugged them "im so proud of you" her mom said "thank you so much" Julie said, her family returns home

1956
Mort went to school and had a strict teacher who would give their students the harshest punishments if they made any small mistakes by hitting them with a ruler

Later on lunch break Mort saw his friend being picked on by a bully and he stood for him "why don't you pick on someone your own size" he said the bully shoves maynard to the locker and punches mort, he punches him back and kicks his leg and gives him a black eye "thanks" maynard said as mort helped him get up "no problem, I learned how to fight from my uncle" Mort said

1962
As they grew older, Maynard had a job as a fisherman at age 16 and Mort had worked for him, they both got on the boat and sailed away from the harbour to find fish, the water and storms became violent at the harbour and mort fell from the boat, Maynard was looking for him and saw him,

he got a buoy and went to rescue him, he was about to drown but maynard grabbed his arm and got him up to the boat, he coughed up some water and felt very cold, they got back to the harbour and Mort warmed up and thanks his friend for saving him

In the morning, Mort wakes up and gets some eggs from the fridge, he cracks 6 of them in a cup and drinks them before he starts to run, he ran about 3 miles and stopped to the bay and was panting so he drank some water and saw the sydney opera house being constructed,
