The air was crisp that day and smelled sour, arid.

A vast grassland lay in my sight dotted with tuffs and shrubs.

Bulging hole erupted from the ground bearing small, rabbitish critters.

Creatures, massive and furry, lay to my side rooming steadily.

On the horizon, great pines imprinted a jagged edge upon the deep indigo sky.

Tranquility filled my form as a breeze hurried by me.

Wandering seemed to be my only option as i found bits of berries and carrots along with a few morsels

That night was cruel and unforgiving.

Screams echoed on the wind.

Ear curdling cries for help from anyone.

I sat by my campfire and listened to the voices grow quieter and quieter and fade to silence.

I found that the eerie darkness was even worse than the noise.

The feeling...

A feeling of the shadows closing in on you.

Just waiting for the right moment to strike its unsuspecting prey.

I didn't only feel like the prey; i was it.
