My name is Charlie. I'm thirteen and I live with my mom and aunt. They take care of me and love me, they say, the best that they can. We moved to Georgia not too long ago, I like it- but I miss the old place more. Mom and Aunt Beth say it's safer here. I don't really understand what they mean, it was fine out there. Everytime I questioned it, they said for me to trust them- but I don't. I don't understand how a place cannot be safe if it feels like it is. It doesn't matter too much to me, I'm just afraid to start school next week. I'll be going into eighth grade, plus I won't know anyone. I feel like this is going to be disasterous. My mom said it's time for bed, I wish I was older so I didn't have to listen to anyone. I'd still be living in the old place, I wouldn't go to school here, and definitely wouldn't be going to bed at nine. I hate it here.
