It has been a week of school and already, I was overwhelmed with homework. Seriously? I mean, I don't have tumbling after school right now but still? How?

And about the other thing, you know, getting kidnapped by the hottest guy in school n all? Yeah, I didn't know what to do with that info, so I haven't told anyone. I haven't even told my bestie, Vera. Who was now headed my way hand in hand with my kidnapper.

I resisted the urge to run away screaming and composed myself. Tho that would be a funny sight, I wasn't quite ready to make a fool of myself this early in the school year.

Kierce faltered in his steps as they got closer. I stood my ground, willing him to acknowledge me first. But then I rethought my idiotic thinking and instead blurted out, "Really? You're using my best friend to get to me? How dumb do you think I am?"

Vera stopped dead in her tracks and looked at both of us. "I thought you said you didn't know who Kierce was?"

I corrected Vera, "No, I said I know of him, but I didn't meet him until a few weeks ago."

Kierce butted in. "If I may,"
I turned to him. How dare he butt in! "No, you may not." I looked back at Vera. "This is the guy you were seeing over the summer?"

Vera nodded her head, "I guess you don't take me very seriously considering that you never came to any of my parties." Vera narrowed her eyebrows. "I know you don't like hanging with people, but you could've came to one! Just one party!"

I held my head up, "You know your kind of parties aren't my thing."

"My kind of parties? What's that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing, it's fine, but don't expect me to be third wheeling with y'all." I muttered.

Vera spoke, "Oh, you won't be, cuz Nick gonna keep you company." She looked behind me.

I could feel a presence at my back.
"Hey, Nyla." A low voice spoke.

I turned and had to look up. Nick was a brown haired, brown eyes person of handsomeness. How had I never seen or heard of Nick till now? I definitely couldn't/ wouldn't forget a face like that!

I turned back to Vera who was looking at the two of us. "What time are we meeting and where?"

Vera smiled her mischievous grin and told me the time. But before we could go out separate ways, Tiana, with her ridiculous green outfit came up to our group of four.

"Hey y'all, what's happening?" She slung her arms on Vera and my shoulders. I bit my tongue to keep from throwing hands.
The thing about Tiana? She doesn't get that me and Vera are besties. And she's just a friend in our friend group. She constantly bugs us and insists that we're her besties. Here a hint, we don't really like her, but we try to be nice to her since she is nice, just weird.

Nick spoke, before me and Vera could stop him.

"Oh, making plans for a group date tonight."

I glared at Nick that I could've sworn heat lasers shot out. Nick saw my face and was still clueless. Kierce at least got the hint.

"You can come with us if you bring a date." Kierce pulled Vera out from under Tiana's arm.

Tiana then turned to Nick. Do you have a date? Maybe we could go together?"

I instantly shot a look at Vera and mouthed, "seriously?"

Nick wasn't even fazed. "No matter how many times you ask, the answer's gonna be no, Tiana. Now, me and my date are gonna do some more planning." He grabbed my hand. "Without you."

We were down the hall a ways and I tried to look behind me, but Nick stopped me before I could. "Don't, it'll show her that you're letting her get into your head."
I kept my head forward, "She's asked you before?"

The answer was slow to come. "Yes, we live on the same street unfortunately. I, the idiot that I am, went on one date with her and now she thinks we're married."

"You're serious? Where the ring?"

"I assume in a landfill somewhere?"

I started laughing, but Nick wasn't joining in. "Oh, I thought you were kidding me. She bought you a ring and everything?"

"...yeah, not my best moment in life, that's for sure."

I just laughed again. Wow, I knew Tiana was strange, but wanting to marry Nick was a different level of strange.

"So how come I've never seen or heard of you? I mean if Tiana wanted to marry you, I'm surprised I haven't heard anything from her."

Nick looked at me. "I moved here at the end of the school year and I've been around this summer. I don't know why Tiana wouldn't have told you, but I'm betting it's cuz she wanted to try to make me only have one friend in the whole school."
Nick looked around. I peered over his shoulder and saw a green shirt dart into another hall.

"Hmmm, I have a theory, you wanna help me test it?" I asked.
Nick inched closer to my face, "I'm in, what are we gonna do?"

I spoke loudly, "I was gonna take a ride around on my bike, but maybe we could go for a pre date at oh let's see, my place?"

Nick looked at me weirdly, but joined in, "Okay, but just for a little while, I don't want you to get sick of me before our date."

I giggled a ridiculous laugh, "Oh Nick, me tired of you, never."
I whispered in his ear, "We aren't actually going to my house. I'm headed to Vera's and you're free to do whatever it is that you do."

"Then what was all that for?" Nick backed away.

"So Tiana doesn't bother you! You're welcome!" I turned and walked back the way we had come. My bike was parked in the back. I passed the hallway where a certain green dressed girl was spying. I smiled to myself. It was evident she had overheard what I wanted her to hear.
