"What?" I exclaimed along with Kierce's low, "Traces?"
I could hear Kierce muttering to himself in my ear.
The woman turned off her moonlight beam and walked closer to me. "Nyla hon, if you could roll up your sleeve here." She pointed at a spot on my arm.
Kennedy and Nick came closer. I started to roll up my sleeve when Kierce stopped my hands. "You don't have to see if you don't want to." Kierce's eyes stared into mine.
I surprised myself as I said, "I want to know. Even if I didn't want it, I need to know."
I finished rolling my sleeve up and the woman flashed her beam again. She went directly to the spot she had pointed at earlier. A tiny triangle began to glow.
I looked up into the woman's face. "I thought it was supposed to be a moon crescent birthmark! This is just half of one! What does that mean?"Kennedy moved the woman behind him, "It means-'
"That we don't know." Kierce stated loudly. "We will do our best to understand more, but now it's time to go home.""I'm all for going home, but are you sure you don't know what this means?" I directed the question at Kennedy, who was engaged in a staring contest with Kierce.
Kennedy finally turned to me, "I'm sorry, no I have no clue what this means, if you'll let Nick escort you home, I need to excuse myself to the library to see if there is any information on this kind of thing."
Nick came to my side, "Ready?"
I watched as Kierce's figure left the room. "No, but I guess I should get back."
Nick smiled warmly as I took his arm. Soon, we were in his car driving back to my house. I was thankful to be traveling by car since I had shadowzapped with Kierce earlier.
_____________________Kierce followed his father into his office.
"Why did you say that?" His father organized his papers without looking at him. "We know why she only has half a moon!"
"I know," Kierce looked down. "I'm not ready for her to know yet."
"You mean, you're not ready for her to know that she's your other half?"
Kierce didn't say anything, and instead left the room. Heading outside, he lifted his sleeve to uncover his right arm. There, the other half of the Moon shone. Kierce didn't know what to think. He had been looking half of his life for the person that had the other half. Now that he has found her, he almost felt more stressed than relieved.
Kierce was at tennis practice when he looked over to Crest highschool. There he sees Vera and Nyla exiting, heading to the parking lot. Just then, two rowdy boys come up to them. Nyla begins to shout, Vera was running. Kierce placed a hand on his chest, where his silver chained necklace hid.
Whoosh.
He appeared in front of Nyla and beat them up. The boys are lying on the pavement, groaning.
Nyla eyes are full of fear as she recognized Kierce. He quickly grabbed his small bottle of forgetting spray and sprays her face once. He also sprays Vera's as well.
Kierce took a seat on a bench in his family's backyard. He had no clue what he was in for after that first encounter.
Kierce couldn't seem to get Nyla out of his head. The next week, he had used his powers again, when he was crossing the street. Some highschooler was driving recklessly and didn't see Nyla. He had shadowzap and got her out of the way. This time, he didn't have to use a forgetting spray as he was gone before she could see him.
