Just as Ms. Kendall finishes attendance, a girl bursts in.

"Hi!" she pants. "I'm sorry I'm late. I got lost. My name is Camila!"

"It's fine, dear," Ms. Kendall smiles. "Take a seat anywhere."

She smiles sheepishly and takes the seat next to me. She waves and I nod, acknowledging her greeting.

Her hair is dark red, and her eyes are a bright blue. Freckles fade on her pale skin. She's short, at the most I'd say five feet three inches.

"My name is Camila," she whispers.

"Sky," I smile.

"That's a cool name."

"Girls." Ms. Kendall is standing with one hand on her hip and the other holding a clipboard. She looks at us warningly, before turning back to her board and calling names.

Camila carefully rips out a piece of paper, scribbles something on it, and hands it to me.

What a bitch, am I right?

I'm taken aback by her honesty, but I grin.

I quietly scrunch up the paper and hide it in my pocket, so Ms. Kendall won't see. I give Camila a nod and she smiles.

Our first three periods go by quickly and then we're free to go to lunch.

Camila and I had all our first three classes together and got to know each other. We're pretty similar. She wants to try out for football and likes to play volleyball.

We meet up with Zara, who's obviously not welcome to the idea of Camila being around.

"Who's this?" Zara asks.

"Camila!" she exclaims as she holds her hand out. "I'm new here."

Zara nods and gives me this look that I can't read. It looks like a mixture of disappointment and anger, but Zara doesn't get angry.

To be honest, Zara's changed a lot over the summer. I remember her being kinder and social, now she just seems bitter. She said she was having problems with Aaron, but I can't imagine them having issues.

We walk to lunch and join Aaron and Max at our usual table. It's one of the long tables, running through most of the cafeteria. I sit next to Zara, who sits next to Aaron. Max sits opposite me, Camila shyly eating next to him. She's sitting in Alora's usual spot, which Alora will be pissed about. How dare someone sit next to her beloved Max.

Max doesn't acknowledge Camila, he's too focused on his food. Max eats like it's the first time he's eaten in months. If he had a choice between the most beautiful woman in the world and food, he would choose food.

Zara and Aaron sit quietly, pretending that the other isn't there. Usually, Aaron has his hand on her knee, and they're talkative, acting all lovey-dovey. Now, they're acting like they don't know each other and were forced to sit next to each other. I'm kind of glad, hearing all the baby names and watching them kiss isn't how I want to spend my lunch period.

We eat in silence, until Alora comes giggling towards our table, two identical girls following behind her.

"Hi guys!" she exclaims. "This is Ruby-Jo and Blair. Blair's in the blue and Ruby-Jo is in the pink."

I look over at the pair of them. They're dirty blonde and have grey eyes. Fair skin and rosy cheeks. Ruby-Jo's hair is long and in a bun, two strands of curly hair pulled out. Blair has a dead straight bob and bangs, hair tucked behind her ears. Ruby-Jo is in a full sleeve white shirt with a pastel pink vest over it. She's wearing jeans and light pink flats. Blair has light blue shorts and a short sleeve, a baby blue tank top over it, with white sneakers.
