"Chocho, I really can't believe it!" I say to my best friend. The joy in my voice was undeniable. Even Chocho was happy with my success.
We both worked hard and worked together to make this win possible.
"Who would have thought that you would beat Shinki in the election?" she comments.
"I still can't believe the results of the election. I want to thank everyone who supported me from the beginning," I add. She returns a sweet smile me and I am very happy with her gesture.
We keep our hugs together in front of the university board. Soon a group of familiar faces approaches us.
"Congratulations on your win, Sarada," they say altogether. The group that approached me before the election started and the people who are against that bastard Shinki as well.
"Thank you. I know you helped me in the last election. I am indebted to you guys," I say almost crying.
"No, you deserve it. The University needs an honest leader who encourages equality and safeguards each student's rights," the eyeglasses girl who I still haven't asked for her name tell me.
"This would not be possible without your help everyone," I almost tear up in glee.
"We look forward to your plans for the council. We wish you the best," they wished me luck and it makes me ecstatic.
They leave immediately as they still have classes to attend. My palms are on my chest feeling the fast thump of my heart due to an inexplicable sensation inside it.
"Sarada, I need to attend my next class and we will celebrate your victory after school, okay?" Chocho winks at me and waves goodbye. I could not be more thankful to her for all the support she showered me with before and during the elections.
I walk to our classroom with a sweet and joyful smile on my face. I notice people glance and gaze at me as I walk in the hallway.
"That's Sarada, right?"
"Yeah, she won the election,"
"I can't believe Shinki was defeated by that wonk,"
"Maybe she cheated on the election? There's no way she can win against Shinki,"
"Exactly, what a cheater!"
Do they even realize that I can hear them criticize me and my victory against that moron?
I think I'm the headline of today's gossip. I just shake my head in disgust. How could I even cheat? There's no way that I'm going to do that.
As a promoter of equality and justice, I would never do that unacceptable thing to win.
I try to ignore their false comments against me. As long as they don't have proof that I cheated, they can't do me harm.
I step into the classroom and everyone silences. What's wrong with them? Did I do something wrong?
"Sarada!" Kira slowly shouts out of surprise. If I have to describe how everyone looks, they look like they have seen a ghost or something dreadful.
Kira approaches me and Mika comes right after him. I think these two are the only ones to talk to me here.
"Congratulations!" Kira greets and Mika clings to my arm and speaks.
"Yeah, congratulations on winning the election. You know you are the talk of the campus," she smiles gently at me.
I don't know if they are true to themselves in congratulating me. It feels...
