It's Alright- Phil Foden

After a winning streak of sixteen games, Manchester City lost today against Southampton. I can't imagine Phil's sullen face when he gets home: he will probably be very sad and frustrated, or maybe angry.

What if he vents out his anger on me? What if he doesn't want me seeing him like that and leaves? I'm not even sure whether I'm meant to leave him alone or be with him. Maybe I'll just cook his favourite dinner for a treat? Yeah, I'll do that. He will most likely be back in three hours. That's more than enough time to make his favourite food: homemade pizza.

I grabbed some ready-made dough and began moulding it into a heart shape. I thought Phil might appreciate a small gesture after a bad day. We all have bad days. I work at a restaurant just a few days a week and sometimes, even I have bad days. I don't work as much as I used to because I now moved in with Phil, but it's nice to have my own money that I earn.

Phil likes homemade pizza. He claims pizza from the stores is never as good; which I totally respect. He likes a spicy meat-based pizza.  He completely disagrees with pineapple on pizza and even says it's the worst crime to ever be committed. Phil is always a bit overdramatic, but he is best mates with Jack Grealish, so I know where he gets it from. I just hoped the pizza I made for him would make him smile, maybe even laugh.

We have not been dating for long. But my feelings for him were buried inside for much longer than that. It's the first time that Manchester City, so his response to the match is all new to me. Obviously, I saw players' reactions after losing a match, but no one really sees how they feel off-screen.

I leaned against the counter, arms crossed around my chest, waiting for him to come home. I was a little nervous. Soon, a car pulled into the driveway, which I assumed was his. Two minutes later, the front door opened, and he came in. He removed his shoes and hung his jacket. I bit my lips even more. I frantically served him the pizza. He walked from the front doorway to the kitchen. His facial expression registered disappointment. I was expecting the worst. I placed the pizza on the table where he was about to sit.

"Hi, baby, are you okay?", I asked, trying to sound normal, as if I hadn't been thinking about this moment for the past three hours. Phil looked at the heart-shaped pizza, his favourite, then back at me.

"You didn't have to, love. I'm okay", he utters quickly, trying to wash out the disappointment in his voice.

"I know Phil", I say while leaning forward against the counter putting a big smile on my face hoping to cheer him up, "I just had to"

He began eating the pizza, now smiling back at me," Best one yet, and I love the shape." I returned his grin.

"You know, I should have come to the stadium. I know you asked me. I am sorry. I should have taken the day off. I know it's hard dealing with a loss", I said, sadness coating my voice now.  I turned away, so Phil wouldn't see my expression.  This might have looked like I was overreacting. But I just couldn't help it.
"It's okay. It's alright, love. The results would have been the same anyway", he replies, locking eye contact with me while eating. He had eaten so much already. "Besides, I like coming home to some delicious homemade pizza and my gorgeous girlfriend waiting for me.

"I love you, Phil. Also, the pizza is a one-week thing because of your diet. Sorry, babe", I laughed.

He finished eating and headed to get a shower to freshen up. Phil despised pizza, but I loved it. It's my favourite. I poked my head around the door to check if the water was still running. I crouched down behind the counter and began eating a slice of pizza full of pineapples. I was about halfway when I saw Phil standing in front of me.

"MAYA ELIZABETH SPENCE", He shouted, shock covering his expression. I swallowed the rest of my bite before slowly standing up. "Is it what I think it is?", he asked furiously. I slowly nodded my head. "Tell me I didn't just catch my girlfriend eating pineapple pizza", he said.

"Okay...", I said slowly, holding both my hands up in defence while taking steps to the back, "IT WAS THE DOG!", I shouted running as fast as I could.

"WE DON'T HAVE A DOG!", He yelled chasing me from behind.

"EXACTLY", I said while laughing, which slowed me down. It was stupid challenging a Premier League player to a race, He was bound to win.

I ran into the living room, which turned out to be the biggest mistake, I was cornered. I turned around to see Phil standing on the threshold, leaning against the doorframe.

"Is there any way I can use my jokes to get me out of this?", I asked hopefully.

"No", he replied laughing.

"What do you call a mean cactus?", I asked while smiling innocently.

"I just said 'no'", he laughed.

"A prick", I started laughing. The best part was, it wasn't even a funny joke, but I laughed at the most random things. Phil laughed then plunged forward to me. I screamed as he threw me over his shoulders and carried me upstairs.

"Phil! Put me down!", I screamed laughing. He threw me on our bed and jumped beside me.

"I can't believe you eat pineapple pizza", he said disbelievingly

"It's just so good. My apologies you can't come to the realisation that it's actually good", I said smugly and crossed my arm.

"Sometimes you really do say the stupidest things", Phil chuckled.

We snuggled together and watched some movies starting with "10 things I hate about you", because it is my all-time favourite movie and then moved on to "She's the Man".

"Phil, I'm really sorry we lost the match today, you played well", I said sadly.

"Maya, I already told you. You have nothing to apologise for. We'll get back to training and try again soon. It'll be alright", Phil smiled.
