~Shannon's POV~
"Micheal!" I called out. "Yes, honey?" Micheal hollered back. "I need to talk to you!"
I responded. Micheal ran up to me. "About?" He asked. "Hailey keeps talking about this Zander person and claims he's my son or something." I sighed. "I thought it was normal for kids to have imaginary friends." Micheal replied. "It is. At first it didn't really matter to me but now it's going too far! She's harming herself, she's crying over nothing and says it's because of this Zander character, we need to put her in therapy!" I explained.
~Hailey's POV~
I was listening to the whole thing. They think it's an imaginary friend when in reality it's somebody I basically erased from existence. I hate myself for it. I could only focus on 1 word in that whole hour long conversation...therapy.
I'm gonna be put in therapy! Who knows, I might even get locked up in a mental asylum! I buried my face in my pillow and hid under my blanket. I didn't know what to do!
~a few days later~
It's been days and not even a word about therapy. I'm still scared something bad will happen, though. My mom came bursting into my room. "We need to talk." She said. "About?" I asked. "You keep harming yourself just because of this imaginary friend of yours." Mum began. Guess I spoke too soon. I already knew where this was going. "I'm so sorry sweetie but I'm gonna have to get you a therapist. You're not in trouble at all. This is for your own good." Mum said. I wanted to die on the spot. "Your first session is this Sunday." Mum added. She walked out of the room. I starred at my ceiling fan as it spinned around. I don't want to go to therapy!
~A couple days later~
There I was, outside the therapists office. "Do I have to go?" I asked my mum. "Yes." Mum said. I reluctantly walked in and sat down. This pale old woman wearing all green sat down in front of me. "Hello, Hailey. I'm Suzanne. I'm your therapist as you might've already guessed." She introduced herself. "Well I have a stepbrother named Zander and I kinda sorta wished him away and now everyone thinks-" before I could finish my sentence, Suzanne exhaled and said "I know he's not imaginary." I was shocked. I mean I was also happy but...how?! "What?!" I exclaimed. "You see, Hailey, when you were born, you were given an extremely rare gift. You were blessed with 3 wishes. Remember when you were little and wished for a mom?" Suzanne asked me. "Yeah, why?" I asked. "That was your first wish." Suzanne continued. "And I think we all know what your second wish was..." Suzanne quickly added. I sighed. "Now, you're on your very last wish. Don't use it just yet, though. I need you to save it. Yes, at all costs." Suzanne said. "Why?" I asked. "You'll find out soon enough." Suzanne said. "As I was saying, if you want your brother back this badly,I need you to complete 5 different tasks. You will get a new one each session. Do you accept this challenge?" Suzanne asked. I thought about it, leaning towards yes. "Remember, it's a yes or a no, no maybe." Suzanne added. "Yes!" I blurted out.
"Here is your first task, break up Stacy and Luke tomorrow at school." Suzanne said "Remember, don't use your last wish until I tell you too for any reason." She quickly added. "Got it." I said. "One more thing. If you fail any of your tasks... you will never see Zander again. He will be replaced with a different stepbrother who is mean and cruel." Suzanne added. I shivered. I don't want a new stepbrother, I want Zander. "You have until Wednesday to break them up." Suzanne said. "Understood?" "Understood." I said slowly
~end of chapter 3~
