(Also this takes place in Summer)
The party are juniors and Max is alive 👍👍👍

MIKES POV: I sat in my best friends living room. My girlfriend was at therapy, and his brother was at work. I looked at him. He was beautiful.

"Mike." He said, snapping me into reality.

"Yeah...?" I asked, hesitance in my voice.

"You're staring." He said with a soft smile.

I blushed a little and looked away, "S-sorry."

He looked back down at his phone, scrolling through whatever. Soon there was a knock on the door, interrupting the silence. He both jumped and looked at each other.

I got up to get it. It was Jonathan coming home from work. "Hey guys." He smiled, entering the house. "Hey Jonathan." Will state, unamused by his entrance.

"Your sister here?" He asked me. I raised an eyebrow, and Will looked up at us. "No? Why would she be here?" I asked confused.

"I don't know! Am I Crazy for wanting to see my girlfriend?" He shouted. I widened my eyes and rolled them. Shaking my head and joining Will back on the couch.

We hung out for about 2 more hours before I had to go home. Watching movies, scrolling on our phones, just chilling. I could sit there in complete silence with Will for hours and still be comfortable.

*A few hours later at the Wheelers*

We all sat at the dinner table. Barley talking. My dad complained about the news for a little bit, but nobody seemed to care about whatever he was ranting.

"So how's that girlfriend of yours?" He finally asked.

I chocked on my milk at the question. "Good." I said awkwardly, at the thought of it. I don't deserve El. She's like a god basically, and I can't even love her. Not the way I love Will.

Nancy gave me a look, she must've noticed my monotone voice when I replied to dad. "So mom how's that new job?" Nancy asked, ending the awkward silence.

"Wonderful. Everyone is so kind." She smiled in response to Nancy. Dad shot her a disgusted look.

"I just don't understand why you insisted on getting a job." My father shook his head. I squinted hard.

"What do you mean?" She questioned, turning to look at him. "You're a woman. And, I already have a job there's no reason for you to get one." He replied with a confident laugh.

"It's not like you would be able to do a job as good as me and the other guys in the world would."

Me and Nancy's faces both grimaced. Mom couldn't respond, she had no words. I had to do something.

"You have a lot of nerve comparing yourself to mom. She cooks, cleans, provides emotional support for her children, and now she has a job. Just because you went to work before her does not mean you provide more for this family."

Nancy's jaw dropped and she turned to me immediately. Mom looked at me, happy I stood up for her. She looked like she would cry.

"You have no right to speak to me like that Micheal." Dad said, setting his glass down angrily.

"What do you expect me to let you talk to her like that?" I snapped, gesturing towards mom.

"You're the child. Let the adults talk." He said, shooting daggers at me. I rolled my eyes and shook my head.

"That's real funny dad. Children have more brain than you." I laughed, not breaking eye contact with him for a second.

"That's it, go to your room Micheal. You're grounded." He shouted across the table.

Mom and Nancy both looked at me and him in awe. Holly looked confused and upset at the yelling.

I rolled my eyes and stood up, slamming my hands on the table. "Great. Then I won't have to see your face again."
