The Handmaiden (Anakin×oc)

Chapter 3

              The morning after meeting Anakin, I was called in by the Queen.  Padme and Captain Panaka were there to.  I was extremely confused.  I was even more puzzled when the "Queen" or Sabe, Padme's decoy, was not in her traditional  Nabooian Queen style makeup.  Instead she was in bed looking deathly pale.  I rushed to her side and took her hand "Sabe!" I said looking alarmed. Me and Sabe were close, not as much as me and Padme but we were very good friends.  I looked up to Padme to see if she could explain to me what was going on.  Instead I heard Captain Panaka's voice, "I'm afraid Sabe has caught a bad fever and is unable to talk or stand." Padme nodded on as I replied, "But what is to happen to Padme since their is no decoy?" They both looked at each other and Padme said "We have decided that you will be the new decoy since Sabe is unable to." I looked at her with surprise, "But Padme, we don't look that much alike."  She again nodded her head and said, "Yes, but with a little makeup, and some work on your attitude. Besides, we both sound very similar."  True, lots of people had said we sounded basically the same.  Padme explained how she would make me look like her.

       "Since your eyes are green we will use contacts to make them brown.  To cover your freckles we don't  need to worry because of the traditional makeup." I nodded my head slowly and Padme came over to me and took my hands.  "Nalalia I know this is all so sudden, but to get prepared for your becoming Queen after me, we have to get you ready."  As best friends and adopted siblings, everyone wanted me to take over as Queen once Padme's term as Queen was done.  Of course I would because one, I have been dreaming since I was young to be a politician, and two I want to do this for my people.

       "I'll do it." I said confidence in my words.  Then I realized something, Anakin! I couldn't tell him.  This is supposed to be kept a secret and wasn't allowed to tell anybody, including him.  His heart was gonna break not being with me.  Padme looked at me with understanding, "I'll distract Annie as much as I possibly can." I hugged her.  She understands me so well, I couldn't have had a better sister or friend to talk to.  Padme sent for my fellow handmaidens, Sache, Rabe, Eirtae, and Yane to help me with my makeup and clothes.  In a couple of hours, and a lot of practicing, I looked and sounded almost exactly like Padme. Captain Panaka came in and told us we landed on Courscant. Time to put my skills to the test!

Sorry I couldn't publish!  I live in FL and ya'll probably know about Hurricane Ian.  I had to help my parents move our outdoor furniture and plants back to where they originally were.  30 views! I am literally crying!  I did not expect my first story to get so many views!  Sorry this chapter was so short.  To make it up, I'm posting another chapter.  Love you guys and may the Force be with you!
