Okay, so to give you a debrief of how my past week has followed suit from my first day.
Sit at the back of class.
No friends.
Etc.
But today has been quite different.
Prepare yourself, it may come as a shock but... someone actually sat down next to me! Gasp!
Okay, I was sitting in class -geography if you would like to know- and just as the whole class walks in Grace Winter comes and asks me -and I quote- "can I sit next to you?" The Grace winter wanted to sit with me! Grace Winter, head of the cheer squad. Grace winter, head girl of the school. The Grace Winter! I can admit, I was a bit shocked that I could only just manage to mumble and stutter my way through a "sure."
So, I was sitting in geography class next to the most popular girl in school. And the only thing I could think to say was 'sure?'
Idiot.
She was actually quite nice. She introduced herself and wanted to know stuff about me -how I was enjoying school -I was enjoying the classwork, not the teachers. She laughed and agreed- what I wanted to do when I grew up and etc. But the best part about all of this pointless small talk was the closing sentence. The last words she spoke before she got up and went to health. They were -and I quote- 'you should come sit with us at lunch sometime.' Now I know what you're thinking, that is so cliché it's not even funny. But when you've had a maximum of zero friends for a whole three months of holiday PLUS a whole week of school, you take what you're given. So I said yes and agreed to sit with the typical, blonde haired, push-up bra wearing popular girls -known at our school as- the Babes.
Okay, so I should probably give you a run down on what the Babes are.
At our school, girls are split into two social groups known as the Books and the Babes.
The girls that fall into the first category -where I am currently residing and are known by the school as the Books- are the type of girls that read fan fiction and spend their Friday nights wearing sweat pants, reading Twilight or indulging ourselves in the regular ABC Harry Potter marathons.
The girls that fall in the latter category -where Grace Winter currently sits and are known by the school as the Babes- are the type of girls that wouldn't be caught dead in another from a rip off brand store and spend their Friday nights wearing mini-skirts, getting drunk and dancing to music that has a total of five words in it.
To break it down, Grace is popular. And I'm not.
So when a Babe asks a Book to have lunch with them, it is kind of a big for someone of my social status. (Being that I'm not social enough to actually have a social status).
So there I am having my homemade peanut butter and jelly sandwich surrounded by the most popular girls at school!
I may or may not be having a little heart attack right now.
Even though none of them have actually talked to me yet, or even looked at me for that matter...but hey, this is possible the highlight of my social life.
"What do you think Kendall?"
All the eyes on the table turned to me. Every one of the prettiest faces to walk our school grounds are turned towards me.
Holy crap.
I go from the side stage to spotlight moment in 0.3 seconds.
I don't even know what they are talking about and Grace is trying to throw me into the conversation!
Holy crap!
Okay, calm down Kendall. Breath. You'll be okay just act cool.
"P...p...pardon?"
Real cool Kendall.
"We were just debating what the theme to this year's school formal should be. I suggested a night under the stars and Kath suggested winter wonderland. What do you think?"
Okay, so I know what they are talking about. Of course that's what they would be talking about, it's the most popular event on the school calendar. Every year our school has a mid-year formal where all the girls spend insane amounts of money on dresses and guys come to their doors with wrist corsages and to tell them how beautiful they are, whilst we Books sit at home and watch the Star Wars trilogy with a bowl of microwave popcorn nearby.
So us you can see, I am in uncharted territory here.
"I think a night under the stars would definitely be a bit more romantic."
Grace is smiling. Okay, that's a good sign.
Kath - short red hair girl with amazing green eyes- death stares me for a bit and then agrees with Grace on my opinion.
I have successfully completed my first lunch with the babes.
