As I awaken, a delightful aroma comes from the kitchen. Curiosity guiding my steps, I follow the scent and discover Artemis, wearing a stunning pink dress, preparing breakfast.
I approach her silently, ensuring I don't disturb her. When I'm right behind her, I lower myself and whisper in her ear, "Good morning, honey." Startled, she jumps, but quickly composes herself and smiles at me.
"You startled me. Since I woke up a little earlier, I decided to get some ingredients and make us breakfast'' Artemis explains.
"It smells good. It has been quite a while since I had a good meal'" I admit.
"Take a seat, I'm almost done'" she says.
After a few minutes, she brings the food over, and we enjoy a delightful meal together. "The food was delicious, thank you," I express my gratitude.
Artemis blushes, and I decide to tease her a bit, saying, "You're making such a cute face that I might end up kissing you." Blushing even more, she stammers out a shy "Thank you." It becomes evident that she's a cute and innocent girl, which is exactly my type, but I need to stay focused on our mission. I think about our relationship later.
"Artemis, have you prepared your things? We should head to the mountains as soon as possible," I inquire.
"Yes, everything is ready. I was just waiting for you to wake up," she replies.
"That's great. Take your things and wait for me outside," I tell her.
After Artemis leaves the house, I return to our room, put on my clothes and robe, and equip my lightsabers and sword. Before leaving, I ensure all the doors and windows are securely closed. Outside, Artemis awaits, now wearing her adventurer clothes.
Together, Artemis and I set out towards the mountains. Upon reaching a rocky clearing, we see five mountain trolls emerging from the shadows wielding massive maces, presenting a formidable sight.
Artemis's initial confidence waved as she took a look at her adversaries. I observe her closely, noticing the tension in her shoulders and the slight fear in her eyes.
"Don't worry too much, I'm confident that you can take care of them," I offered words of encouragement, trying to ease her nervousness.
"I'm not even sure if I can handle three, imagine five," Artemis admitted, a hint of vulnerability seeping through her usual resolve.
"I believe in you, and if you're in danger, I'll come and rescue you," I reassured her, hoping to instill a sense of trust and confidence.
With a deep breath, Artemis readied her bow, determination flickering in her gaze. The forest around us held its breath as she unleashed the first arrow, infused with crackling lightning, aiming true at the closest troll. The arrow hit the troll in the middle of its head, making it collapse into the ground, the electrical charge rendering it motionless.
Encouraged by her success, Artemis swiftly shot another arrow, her movements a dance of precision and agility. The second troll fell under the onslaught, confusion rippling through the remaining three. Yet, determination outweighed fear in Artemis's eyes.
The trolls, sensing the threat, charged towards her with earth-shaking footsteps. Artemis skillfully evaded the first one, showcasing agility. However, the trolls adjusted their strategy, coordinating their attacks to corner her.
Realizing the imminent danger, I unsheathe the sword I got from the demon and rush towards Artemis. The clash of steel against mace resonated through the clearing as I engaged the trolls, deflecting their blows and creating an opening for Artemis to regain her footing.
She seized the opportunity, expertly firing an arrow into the heart of the third troll, leaving it convulsing on the ground. The battle raged on, a symphony of clashing weapons and desperate roars, each movement calculated to ensure Artemis's safety.
Yet, the final two trolls proved relentless. In a daring move, I lunged forward, swiftly severing the heads of both trolls with a single, fluid motion. Artemis wore a mix of relief and gratitude on her face. "Thank you for saving me again. When we get back to Adria, I promise I'll pay you back," she expressed, her voice resonating with sincerity.
"Don't worry about that for now, we still have a dragon to kill," I reminded her, shifting our focus to the upcoming mission.
Artemis stiffens at the mention of the dragon, revealing her fear. Despite this, she chose to accompany me on this journey. I decide to offer comfort by hugging her.
Artemis, feeling the warmth of my embrace, gradually relaxes in my arms, reassured by my words. "Don't worry; I will protect you no matter what, so there's no need to be frightened," I assure her.
A blush tinges Artemis's cheeks, and she turns her face away, a shy smile playing on her lips. "Thank you for everything," she says, her gratitude filled with a touch of vulnerability.
"Feeling better now?" I ask, my gaze locked onto her eyes that glisten with a mixture of emotions.
"Yes, and also..." Artemis begins, but before she can finish, a loud roar echoes through the air, interrupting our moment. We look to the sky, our eyes meeting the sight of a magnificent black dragon soaring toward the mountain's peak.
"So, the rumors were true after all. That's perfect, now I can finally have my fun. By the way, what were you saying?" I inquire, a playful glint in my eyes.
"It was not important, so don't worry," Artemis replies, her attention momentarily diverted to the approaching dragon.
