After an hour of walking, we finally reach a city surrounded by formidable walls. It becomes apparent that this planet is relatively primitive, just as I thought. Nevertheless, this just makes it easier to conquer this world.

Passing through a colossal gate, we enter the city, revealing a central castle.

Darth Lijden: This city is quite big, wouldn't you say? And judging by its looks, this must be the capital of a nation, correct?

Artemis: Indeed, this is Adria, the capital of the Human Kingdom of Karith. Where do you want to go first?

Darth Lijden: How about the Adventurers Guild? I need to get some money.

Artemis: Follow me.

After a brief walk, we reach a multi-floored building, which is seemingly larger than others. This must be the place Artemis mentioned.

Artemis: Come with me, and I'll show you how to claim your rewards.

I nod and follow her inside. Artemis approaches the balcony, and starts talking with the receptionist about our encounter in the forest.

Receptionist: HE KILLED A DEMON ALL BY HIMSELF?

After she screamed everyone started staring at us and mumbling to each other. And now we have all this unnecessary attention, which is the last thing I wanted.

Receptionist: I apologize for the inconvenience. It's just that such a feat is unheard of. Anyway, what do you wish to do with the demon core?

Darth Lijden: I would like to get some money out of it.

Receptionist: Alright, may I see your adventurer's card?

Darth Lijden: What's an adventurer's card?

Receptionist: You mean to tell me that you don't even have an adventurer's card? I am sorry but if you want to claim your reward, you will need to prove that you are capable enough to do it.

Darth Lijden: Isn't killing a demon proof enough?

Receptionist: I regret to inform you that it's a mandatory rule. You'll need to undergo an examination by our instructor, who will determine your rank and verify your claim.

Darth Lijden: Fine, can I do it now?

Receptionist: Certainly, follow me to the examination room.

We enter a vast open space where a middle-aged man is sparring with a teenager. After their clash, the older man is declared the winner.

Instructor: Well done, Larzen. Based on your sword skills you should be around a B rank.

Receptionist: Congratulations on your assessment, Larzen. After the next exam, we'll proceed to register you.

Larzen: Thanks, Lucy. I'll stick around to watch the fight.

Darth Lijden: By the way, is it a problem if I kill the guy during the exam? Because if I use my sword I am going to kill him in an instant.

Lucy: Absolutely not. Killing the instructor is a major issue. He holds a significant position here.

What a pain, I'll need to restrain my power. Perhaps if I use a weaker version of Force Lightning I might be able to win without killing him.

I walk over to my corner of the small arena, and I await the signal to begin the fight. As the signal is given, I unleash a controlled burst of blue Force Lightning on the instructor, who crumples to the ground. After a few seconds on the ground he gives up.

Artemis's POV

Who exactly is this guy? He has amazing swordsmanship and potent lightning magic that can easily overwhelm a seasoned A-rank adventurer.I need to be careful around him; he could kill me at any moment.

Darth Lijden's POV

Well, that went as expected, maybe now I can finally get my rewards.

Lucy: What did I just witness? Artemis, come with me, and bring your newfound friend. We need to speak with the headmaster.

We follow her upstairs, Lucy then guides us into an office where an elderly man sits behind a table full of papers. Artemis and I take a seat on the couch.

Headmaster: Lucy, can't you see I'm busy with work?

Lucy: Apologies, Headmaster. This man claims to have slain a demon, and we needed to verify his assertion. So, we arranged for him to face Frank in combat.

The Headmaster stops his work, focusing his attention on me.

Headmaster: You claim to have killed a demon?

Darth Lijden: Yes, and for someone weak, he had quite a big mouth.

Artemis: Weak? That demon would have killed me if you hadn't arrived in time.

Headmaster: Sir, regardless of your origin, we consider demons powerful and dangerous. You shouldn't talk about them so lightly.

Darth Lijden: Artemis held her own against the demon for a couple minutes. so I don't know why you overestimate them so much.

Headmaster: She held her own against it and came out alive? That is a noteworthy feat for a C-rank adventurer. If what you say is true, we might consider a rank-up quest for her.

Artemis: Truly? I'm honored. Thank you, Lijden, and Headmaster.

Darth Lijden: I merely spoke the truth. Can I now collect my rewards?

Headmaster: How did your fight with Frank go?

Lucy: Sir, he defeated Frank.

Headmaster: So, not only did you kill a demon, but you also bested Frank, a veteran A-rank adventurer. You are indeed an intriguing individual. Lucy, take them downstairs. Give Lijden his reward, and arrange Artemis's rank-up quest. Return here afterward; there are matters we need to discuss.

We descend to the counter, where Lucy hands me a bag of coins.

Lucy: Here are 50 gold coins as your reward.

Lucy: Regarding Artemis's rank-up quest, sir, could you sign here to confirm her notable achievement?

Examining the paper, I notice the familiar writing. Oddly, even the writing here resembles that of my home. Where exactly am I?

Deciding it won't impact me significantly, I signed it.

Artemis: Thank you so much; this means a lot to me.

Lucy: Artemis, for your rank-up quest, you need to kill a troll in the northern mountains and bring its head as proof. Be cautious; there's a cave, and rumors suggest a Dragon resides there, so don't venture too high.

A Dragon in the mountains. It's been a while since I foughtone. Hunting it might be fun.

Darth Lijden: Would it be alright if I accompany her? Just for her protection.

Lucy: As long as you don't interfere with her quest, there won't be an issue.

Artemis: You'd do that for me? I don't know how to repay you for everything.

Darth Lijden: We can discuss that after we complete your quest.

Artemis: Alright, let's go then.

Later, at the Headmaster's office.

Headmaster: Lucy, when I encountered that man earlier, I sensed an ominous presence.

Lucy: What do you mean? I get that he's strong, and so are you; you're an S-rank adventurer. Besides his lack of common sense, he seemed normal.

Headmaster: I know, but I felt a dark aura, as if he were a demon rather than a human. I hope I'm mistaken, but let's keep an eye on him, just in case. That's all, Lucy; return to the main room.
